00:00 Looking Expensive with Outfits Introduction
When it comes to our wardrobes, I'm sure we’d all love a little extra cash to add a little extra zing to our looks. However, it doesn’t take a pile of money to look expensive when you know the secrets to look expensive.
01:26 Why would you want to look expensive?
As we are a Classic Style channel, our definition of “looking expensive” harkens back to bespoke garments, made from luxury materials like those worn by our Classic Style icons in the real world.
As you know, we don’t often recommend flashy or showy clothes here at the Gentleman’s Gazette and we would never want you to use your clothes to show off to or belittle others. But there are certain occasions when you might want your look to exude both classic styles and give the idea of the expense.
02:20 Tips to look more expensive: 1. Perfect Fits
03:11 2. Care For Your Clothes
03:55 3. Ditch The Labels
05:00 4. Curate Combinations
05:51 5. Wear White Shirts
06:39 6. Find Fabulous Fabrics
08:21 7. Be Functionally Formal
09:21 8. Craft Complete Outlets
11:15 9. Adopt A Signature Piece
Of course, at the end of the day, only you know how much money you actually have in your bank account. So the confidence with which you interact with others will be the defining feature of any look. We hope that the suggestions we’ve shared today will help you really feel and exude that confidence.

Also turn your shirt's inside out before washing so they won't fade, zip up your pants also before washing because the teeth will damage the fabric of other fabric of items in the washer, One more thing use wool wash for dark clothing instead of the name brand it's the same thing except for the registered trademark name.

Another good tip is developing a good eye for quality in second hand clothing. I just recently found a gorgeous pair of Italian made leather shoes for just 10 dollars. Second hand clothing can alsobe tailored. Of course, we have to be very careful and choosy when it comes to second hand clothing because it is so inexpensive that it's too easy to buy so much that you end up with a mountain of clothes in the process of developing that skill. Discretion is key.

I dress pretty much exclusively in 1930s dress codes. Suit and tie for everyday wear, black tie for, say, a nice dinner out, a polo for a pool party, etc. This tends to give me the image of someone eccentric and wealthy. I overdress because I can - I'm beholden to no one. Almost like the reverse of mafia members dressing down. Garments like dress hats, pocket watches, colorful ties, and ascots help seperate me from people who have to wear formal clothes for a living. I've found these outfits to particularly exude a sort of aristocratic feel: - White tennis sweater, polo, and white slacks or shorts - Blazer and ascot, especially with white trousers - White suit and tie - Three-piece suits, especially in unique patterns or colors - Black tie combinations that are more unique, such as velvet smoking jackets or three-pieces - Morning dress or white tie, especially for formal-but-not-mandatory occasions like the opera

Anyway, I have been pondering how to look more expensive without having to wear actually expensive clothing because they absolutely will be ruined as I am a working mother. I am thinking a white scarf, headband, or tie might be lovely and remain out of stain danger.

Men who look over casual, shabby, full of tats, never catch my eye. But a man who took time to look presentable, well groomed, with a great scent always makes me stop in awe of him. As woman I put a lot of effort into my appearance. Unfortunately, I believe there is a whole generation of men who were just never taught to do the same.

As a man I agree with you. I often get plenty of compliments from the ladies who say I smell nice and one particular girl said to me “You always smell nice!” as she said she walked past me many times where I work. I’m 39 years old but I have boyish good looks so often get told I look 24/25. I always spend time to look at my best and I feel confident. I have to say that the ladies today do look better dressed then us men. I see countless young guys and guys my age who wear poorly fitted clothes or they dress up like a walking billboard. I rarely see guys who dress up well and a female work colleague of mine said to me last week “Your dress sense is always so dapper” I love ladies who smell nice and take care of themselves

All solid tips in this video! I'm not sure, though, that they deliver on the promise in the title - on how to look expensive. They're more tips on how to not look cheap. Take the example of the Fendi and RL sweaters: I'm not so sure that the RL looks more expensive. To someone who is familiar with both brands, certainly the Fendi looks more expensive because they're familiar with Fendi prices. So if you want to look as expensive as possible, to me, it's probably best to have an outfit that actually is as expensive as possible. Now, if you want your outfit to look more expensive than it really is, probably the best way is to buy expensive items at deep discounts - whether they have big logos or not. Personally, I do think that logos do make people's outfits look more expensive, because most onlookers will recognize famous logos. In the video, though, Kyle mentions that their benchmark for expensive clothing is bespoke tailoring, in which case, of course, there is no room for logos. But while that might be perceived as expensive at Pitti Uomo, it won't be perceived as such in most airports or high streets around the world.

I love your videos. I am in love with fashion. I use to have a signature piece, a flat cap, an Ivy to be precise. But after sometime I started diversifying by wearing homburg hat. Now, I constantly rotate between the homburg hat and a flat cap. I love monochromatic approach to dressing. A three piece suit (of the same color) always look nice. Monochromatic approach is playing safe. That's why I like it. Your videos encouraged me to purchase double Monkstrap shoes.

For those who may doubt getting better quality material (non synthetic, cotton, wool, linen) is worth it. Believe me when i say it makes all the difference. Because in good quality material I feel a lot more comfortable, I’m not sweating as much. Especially if you’re planning to create a gentleman’s wardrobe. It’s more worth having clothes that you can feel comfortable no matter what you are doing. Rather than being uncomfortable and thinking about throwing it away. Most of my clothes have a cost per wear of about a 50-70¢. And they were not cheap, but because I wear them in comfort I look forward to wearing them.

They have a video on "Spezzato" which is about how to pair odd jackets, trousers, and waistcoats to make different, less formal outfits. Basically, unless the jacket is pin striped or otherwise heavily patterned, it can usually be paired well with complementary trousers. For example, a solid navy suit jacket can be worn with grey dress pants or khaki chinos quite effectively.

I’ve found that people quite like if I leave the waistcoat unbuttoned and wear my tie a bit rakish or askew & even tho it’s not my preference it’s breezy and dresses down the formality of a tie for summer engagements.

Preston on the other hand is very skinny and he also chooses clothes sizes in a way that suits his body. Considering fit as a first and more important rule for men clothing, can we say Kile is not a gentleman?

Start with small steps. You don't have to suddenly show up looking like Cary Grant. You might start a trend.

I can savely say, I'm one of the best dressed men in my neighbourhood. I stand out that way and really don't care what anyone might think or say about. Dress how you like

I live in a very small town in the middle of nowhere. Most people here consider it dressy when they wear their best Carhartt pants and some new work boots. I didn't exactly blend in when I started wearing waistcoats, bowties, bowlers, etc., and sometimes using a decorative walking stick, but I enjoy it and continued in spite of the surprised reactions. Although my clothing is quite low-end, in my town I get constant compliments, and I've heard the word "dapper" more times in the last year than I had in my entire life. In areas of extremely informal dress people may think you're odd, but they are also far more easily impressed by "fancy" clothing (even if it is low-cost, inferior fabric, and not fitted), so just get started dressing nice, have fun, and let others think what they will.

Try baby steps like this: When you would normally wear jeans, wear navy chinos. Instead of a t-shirt, try a polo. Wear an oxford shirt with the top button undone when you go to work. Wear a sport jacket or sweater instead of a hoodie. Etc... You don't have to just show up one day in a three piece suit and a fedora. Gradually change your style.

I'm sorry, but everyone on the planet can afford a generic khaki set of pants and a sweater that fits well. That's not luxury.

Disappointed by this coming from GG. I dress classically, not to flaunt wealth. Most of my classical items are thrifted. Showing off these days in many parts of the US is an inherently bad idea.

Unfortunately women disagree. Realistically men look expensive when they have labels on and non-solid colors. Nobody knows the fabric especially with the outdated color combos (Ben Brewster excepted) shown in this video. It's like a cosplay of people trying to look so hard in to retro classical clothing with the big boutonniere and bowties. Having said all that, sexy elegant men are the stylish and gym fit ones like Ben, not the expensive sugar daddy uncle.

Well… i think that the skinny guy doesn’t look good in suits. Reason is that they don’t fit at all. Putting lots of effort to the accessories and all, but the physics of a body tells a bit different story. Not maintainig a healty looking body with the nutrition it needs will result look “poor”. Even if he is in fact a millonaire with the classiest looking thingies or whatever. No money = no food = malnutrition = looking not the top of the social hierarchy. Sorry for being frank.
