Im working in tech sales as a consultant in a very different domain right now and have been curious about Cyber Security as a field for a while now. This was very enlightening. Thank you for keeping it real and sharing things you need to ask yourself before jumping in. I realized I have a lot more to think about before jumping into this field!

Currently in the last year of high school and I found ethical hacking interesting enough for me to pursue it. This channel seems helpful to get me started. Thanks!

Amazing video man. I really loved how you emphasized learning the fundamentals of specific technologies which a lot of people find really daunting. You pay a heavy "cost" upfront but it really does enable you to construct a solid mental model so you're able to integrate new information more easily.

Great thought, definitely room for a good discussion here. Consider this: there is also others like: Law Research/Writer Cyber Accountants Awareness Trainer My guess is that some will say these are cybersecurity and some will say these aren't (i bet that some will say that "cyber" is limited to "cyberspace", and not things like "law"), in a dumbed down scenario. Love the approach that you have, and thanks for sharing!

Im in my my last year of associates and can get networking and cyber security degrees back to back... Is that a waste? Should I focus on just 1 or is have dual associates worth it?

Personally, I don't think education in two areas are a waste, but I recommend ensuring that they match the role you want. If you are going for a network security role (for example), then both may help you reach that goal :). In my experience, the job market seems to have appreciated a bachelor's degree instead of two associates. If you can, try to go for the bachelor's. I know that this might not be possible for some people, so if you are unable to do this, try to get a job with one associates degree, and then work on the other while you build experience. Best of luck on your journey! Getting that first job might be challenging after college, but hang in there and keep going for it!

Well, that is a difficult question to answer for me - for two reasons: - Cybersecurity is a vast field. This means that some positions may be easier than Networking, and some may be harder. - Networking might be more challenging than Cybersecurity for some, but easier for others. This might be due to how people learn, and where their interests lie. My recommendation would be to look at an overview of material for both and determine which one interests you more. Even if that one is harder, I say go for it - since it is in your interest :)

My 2 cents as a pentester, finish your current degree you are about to finish but I would advise you to consider learning skills from the internet about cyber security as a big part of the job is googling stuff anyway. You don’t NEED a degree to get into the field so long as you have the skills needed for the job and can market that to employers well. Of course I’m a pentester so if that’s not the niche you’re into consider that bias but in general you can learn these skills for free or very cheap, much cheaper than a degree, online
