Love riding so I’m going to spoil myself with a new Indian! Went in the other day just to sit on the bobber and see how it felt (I’m 6’1” 200lbs) so its a much different thing for me. Didn’t have time to test ride just wanted to throw a leg over. Well there was a chief dark horse right by it. I sat on it as well and thinking I’m going to have to pony up the extra $5k for one of those! Will know for sure after I test ride them both. Hows it going Dan? Love your stuff ! Been asking around on a lot of channels and I hope you can give me a more detailed view on my decision(s). Im 6'2, 80kgs(150-170lbs). Zero riding experience. Last time I was on a bike I didn't go over 25kph. However I am aware of the clutch systems on bikes, balancing etc. I don't want to go through the trading in route, buy one bike then trade in for another as experience grows. What im concerned with is pricing etc. Firstly I wanted an 883, then a 1200 - due to body dimensions. Then I thought it would be best to get a breakout 2019, however that is a little expensive and unnecessary in the beginning of riding. Harley has a great cult feel to it. SO now I am even more confused due to the 48, 1200, and Roadster HD vs. Scout Bobber - I want to ride cross country, and I think changing the saddle on either bike would do the trick. I want the best for aesthetics and comfort. But which bike has become even more difficult as I go through more material online. Reminder ill be riding in Europe - So I would love anyones input on this and as yours as well Dan ! Again love your videos !

    Yes, the Scouts have three options for the handle bars (extended, normal, reduced), and three options for the controls (extended, normal, reduced) making a total of nine combinations in just that area. BUT, they also have two seat options like the thicker reduced reach seat that pushes the rider forward. With all three reduced options in play somebody really short could ride pretty easily.

    I've been riding my 2016 Scout ABS for 3 years & 14k miles; it's in a 2 up touring configuration. It is not a cross country bike, I've taken it on a 900 mile trip where the longest stretch was 450 miles the first day, and that was a bit much as comfort goes. And the wife can't handle more than 3 total hours of riding. Be that as it may, I Love my Scout! lots of day trips through the NC & VA mountains and forests, I can cruise, or shred with the best of them. I'm 6 ft / 190 lbs, and no comfort issues from that prospective. My biggest complaint is gas tank size, max range is 120-150, however, its also a blessing, because it forces me off the bike every 120 miles, which is about the longest I think comfort for most will be able to stand. Happy Riding!

    They are nearly identical mechanically, the Bobber has 2" of rear travel and the Scout has 3". My Scout is comfortable for a daily commute. I've had it just over 3 years and am about to hit 35,000 miles on it. No mechanical issues, I do have a recurring problem with the trigger switch on the control not working sometimes, bit my dealer has always repaired that under warranty. Either is a fantastic bike, I guess the real question is how smooth of roads are you riding on?

But I sat on a few of bmw’s bikes and found a lot of them comfortable. But I am very uncomfortable with a road glide. Now a street glide. That feels right at home. It’s very similar ergonomics to my Dyna. I also love the mt07 for ergonomics. But I don’t think it’s suspension would like my fat ass.

    I'm one year into riding. My first bike is a Harley Davidson Street 750. I have really enjoyed the bike I think because it is low, (I'm 5'3 and easily flat footed on her). My only issue...I don't feel like she would be good on longer interesting rides. My longest is 3.5 hours, but I never felt like she was completely happy doing 70 mph. Is that just a power thing? How would the Scout bobber compare? You said it seems to have plenty power on the interstate which makes me think my initial interest is now validated. Thanks for the info!

    The Scout bobber is a very low bike so you would definitely be able to flatfoot it. And it's actually it's just as powerful as my 1200 Sportster or more powerful. It does have a 6-speed so you'll be completely happy doing more than 70

  • @hooahayes

    The scout motor, untweaked, will do 125 on the highway. It has plenty of power and is pretty linear until you hit about 4500rpms, then it goes like a rocket. At that speed if I remember correctly it is in the high 6000s rpm wise. The governor kicks in at that point so the motor has legs to go beyond that speed with a tune. SAFETY NOTE: The tires are only rated to 130mph, so tread with caution above that.

    What would you rate the Indian scout for long rides (Touring) 1 through 5 Raiding ??

  • @stuckinpodunk

    @stuckinpodunk

    3 жыл бұрын

    The Scout would be better than the Bobber if you are planning on long rides, but both can be made comfortable. A good seat and bars that fit you can be found easily and make it a cruiser if you want it. In stock form, the Bobber is good for about an hour before your butt needs a couple minutes of break, but with a good seat and maybe better shocks it can be an all day bike. The regular scout has a better seat and more suspension travel, so you can go a good bit longer.

That's why it's illegal for them to wide turn out into the outside lane and vise versa for you to turn straight out into the outside lane. The lanes are designated for both of you to turn simultaneously.
