    Wanda was using sitcoms based on what she watched when she was growing up for her grieving. While Wanda and Vision spend the early episodes trying to hide their abilities it was only a matter of time before they came realized to the town. I believe the beginning was Agatha testing Wanda’s powers.

    It is a shame that not a lot of people watch this channel. I find the analysis much more deeper and from the heart than on any other channel out there. Eric, heavy spoilers, emergency awesome are all interesting in their own ways, but this channel does it better and still has less views.

    I've always liked Wanda. I had trouble accepting that she was capable of being so villainous and selfish after all this time. Granted it was unintentional but almost none of it was addressed in the end, and her character seems slightly more grey. It makes sense that there is still a dark and terrifying aspect of her power. But after being an Avenger for so long it's almost jarring. These people snapped out of it and were terrified of her. And her reflex was to accidentally strangle everyone. This was before she leveled up to become the Dark Phoenix. Oops I mean Scarlet Witch.

    Hurt people hurt people. I find it insane that a character can be an orphan, have her brother murdered, then have the love of her life murdered in front of her, after she already murdered him to save the world...why do people not think that trauma will come out? I don't remember the government asking if she was okay after her twin died instead they put her on house arrest.

    Interesting coming back to this after MoM. Contrary to the opinion of many, I believe the movie actually retroactively makes the show even better, in particular the season finale. And the way you've described the themes and the character arc thru the story of WandaVision really was leading to the events of MoM.

    I think the 5 stages of grief have been moved around 1) anger - at losing Vision 2) depression - that she couldn’t see his body 3) anger - by going to Westview and trapping the entire town 4) bargaining- living her life through sitcoms 5) acceptance - realising that a fake family is not the solutions to her problems. Just a theory tho......

    I very liked the show. For me, WandaVision is about loss and grief and how you deal with it. In the end, you have to go on, change and leave the past behind you. Elizabeth and Paul have awesome chemistry in front of the camera. And I don't want a standard superhero action series because we already have the movies, and WandaVision gave me a new perspective regarding the MCU. The end was a little bit weak but overall this was a very entertaining ride and I am very curious about the next instalments of the MCU, especially for Loki :)

    Agatha seemed to have gotten shafted as bad as the residents of Westview, she didn't seem to deserve what she got in the end. What was Agatha even doing in the hex? Was she living in Westview when Wanda created the hex? Was she Jimmy's witness protection case? And talking about people getting shafted, how was the director of SWORD even in the wrong? The Vision in the Hex was a fake, what Wanda was doing was actually wrong, he actually told Wanda they were decommissioning Vision when she showed up. The only thing he could be wrong about was activating Vision again against his orders, but the show already made him to be the villain before he ever did that.

    Super annoied that, even though she didn't do it "on purpose", she suffers no consequence of holding a town hostage for weeks and leaving them traumatized. They let her go, just like that. Not like they could do anything but would have been more satisfying if Monica instead of saying "nah, just go, don't do it again ok? I would have done the same with mom" would have said "listen what you did was unforgivable, you would beat us to pulp so I won't stop you NOW but rest asured you'll pay for your crimes sooner or later, these people deserve justice and I won't rest until they get it".

  • @DemoDick1

    If they wanted to show Wanda as a moral person they should have had her turn herself in at the end and face the consequences, instead of flying off into the sunset. Seriously. What she did, intentional or not, was NOT ok. Not to be the grumpy old man, but the writing smacks of the worst trends of the ascending generation. “I know I took a town hostage and tortured them and their children for weeks, and at minimum I can try to erase some of those horrible memories, but I didn’t mean to do it so I’m just gonna leave without trying to make this right or face the consequences.” Major, major storytelling mistake. EDIT: if the reason she can’t turn herself in is fear of being weaponized like Vision, then fine. Verbalize it. “Wanda, you can’t just leave, what you’ve done is horrible and you need to turn yourself in and answer for it.” “I want to. But I can’t risk being turned into another weapon like Vision. I need to get away from people and get a handle on my abilities. Maybe once I have, I can return and remove these painful memories I caused in Westview.” She still ends up in the cabin studying, but it shows that she cares for the people she’s harmed and is determined to make amends for what she’s done. It also shows that consequences matter. Seriously, I don’t get how Wanda just getting dirty looks from the townies is enough. “I know I just gave you all PTSD and took your kids hostage, but I gotta go have another adventure. Deuces!”

  • @lionellerner

    @lionellerner

    @@DemoDick1 totally agree. Or maybe she could just assume she's a villain and own it. The reason I said Monica could have been the voice of reason there, is because I see more consistent with her character arc the fact that she's not taking responsibility for her actions, her being a victim is part of her character and that's fine, but the writers being OK with it and pretending the audience to be so feels wrong to me. Monica could have embodied that sense of ethic and Wanda could have kept being a victim persona with no sense of responsibility over her actions with no major changes... only that would have implied future conflict between those characters and I don't konw if they're heading that way in future films.

  • @DemoDick1

    @DemoDick1

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@lionellerner Yep. Monica’s last lines made it even worse. “They’ll never know what *you* gave up for them.” Uh, hello? How about what THEY gave up? You know, agency and sanity? Wanda caused potentially irreparable and catastrophic psychological damage to thousands of people who hadn’t harmed her any way. The fact that she didn’t do it intentionally is a mitigating factor, NOT an excusatory one. She’s culpable. The question is HOW culpable is she? It isn’t even examined. And were supposed to see Hayward as a bad guy because he broke the rules to protect the people of Westview from Wanda’s reign of terror (i.e. his job)? He’s an antagonist? Really? It could have been so much better, so much more interesting and exploratory with just a couple added/different lines and modified character motivations. No major plot changes, no budget increases. Just better storytelling. Stuff like this makes me seriously consider a second career as a writer. I could do better and no one pays me for it. LOL.

    Since both of you felt like that.. then Marvel did it job. I felt that this is how we supposed to feel about her. Just like how everyone in the world hated her (since Civil War.) And I give a pass to Monica since she's the only one person to understand her grief. With all the world (majority) against her, Monica doesn't need to antagonize her. She's far from a hero now.. she's a force of chaos. I feel like in the future, she will be an isolated witch. Just living her life at the edge of the world..
