Wanamaker Organ Day 2012 - America the Beautiful

Музыка

America the Beautiful performed at Wanamaker Organ Day 2012 at Macy's Department Store in Center City Philadelphia to close the 5 pm Gala Concert. Peter Conte performs at the Wanamaker (VI/462) organ, accompanied by the Friends of the Wanamaker Organ Chorus and Brass. Pardon the camera shake, the video was taken with a hand held camera while standing on the balcony.

The arrangement is ingenious! (The horns becoming the organ becoming the choir). Brilliant.

The lyrics were composed after a trip to the top of Pike's Peak, one of the US's great natural beauties. And here it is being played on America's manmade national treasure, the Wanamaker Organ.

I'm pretty sure I'd have been reduced to a blubbering mess had I heard this in person. It gave me goosebumps and put tears in my eyes just hearing it on KZread. ;)

I was holding back tears at the 2016 OHS Convention when we sang this. It's a shame it's not to be found anywhere.

I agree......this really should be our national anthem. I have never agreed with an anthem honoring a flag even if it was a beautiful phenomenon to see the flag survive the bombing, etc. America is solely about our great nation and it seems appropriate as a national anthem.

What pisses me off are all the people who continue to walk around and shop as if they are totally Oblivious to the Greatness, the Majestic, the Magnificence, the Sublimity, the Staggering Light Energies radiating from this great Song sung by this beautiful chorus and accompanied by the second largest pipe organ in the world. Nothing seems to phase these people!! These are the people who are already among the walking DEAD!!! Many of them are in high levels of politics trying to run America!!! You Know who they are!!!

This musical piece is absorbing into every pore and fiber of my being!!! I am getting chills down my spine from this piece!! I've never heard a pipe organ being played in real life, but this is close enough!!!

docbower! I recently "discovered" this marvelous organ while surfing with youtube. Your postings are excellent and the sound is just magnificent! Thank you so much! I have looked at all of your posts and this one is my favorite. As others have stated, I also believe that this should be our national anthem. Seeing and hearing this one live has been added to my "bucket list"

Quite magnificent. The power of the organ is stupendous. There's a lot of coordination demonstrated between the choir and organist via the conductor - vis-a-vis the TV monitor. Also, as to the arrangement, there are some interesting chord substitutions. Thanks for sharing, Bruce.

Why isn't this the national anthem of the USA. It seems more descriptive of the foundations and original goals of that society that some silly sond about flags, bombs and all the rest of it. The flag is only the trademark of the nation, a symbol displaying the unity of 50 united states. But the nation is not a flag. It is the land, the villages, towns, cities, industry, agriculture and people. Millions of people from all corners of the world that built what was, at one time, the most powerful, prosperous, inventive, productive nation on earth. In toda's world the people of the USA are asked, but not yet required, to bow down to the greatest buffoon the nation has ever seen. America the Beautiful will soon become more decadent than America the hateful it has become. A nation once ruled by the Majority is now a nation cowed by the minority. Take note suckers, as long as american industry is making China, Mexico and other 3rd world countries rich and powerful by having them manufacture everything you use, Americas will never be great again. You forgot that it was American know how and Industrial might that made America great and that is all but wiped out leaving ghost cities in the place of prosperity.
