Wanaka - What most people don't see
Hey everyone this week we park up in Wanaka with some followers, who generously, let us park our caravan on their lawn for a week so we could explore the area.
We did heaps of out door exploring here, walks and mountains, rivers and lakes. Wanaka is a pretty beautiful place especially when the sun is out which we got.

We watch a lot of you tube channels on Sailing, and lately Caravans, which has inspired us to get our own Caravan and travel NZ as well. Your channel is now probably our favourite to view. It is getting better every time you post (we subscribed at 1200). Well done, and may you keep showing off our beautiful country.

Yea we had 7 good days in a row with the weather after wanaka we chased the sun to the coast...
I can't think of anywhere in NZ that has better scenery than the Wanaka area.

Wanaka is exceptional, I do think the most beautiful place would have to be around Glenorchy and Kinloch head waters of Lake Wakatipu, geographically pretty close, but there's not much out there but Nature.
This is magical. What a childhood. Hi Sophie =)

Yea mate, the weather was less than average... The wind always sucks lol... I'll look forward to hearing that in your vlog. Wanaka is such a weird shaped lake, I reckon Toby could catch a wave maybe.

A shame you were not feeling up to walking the Rob Roy Glacier, great to hear your tooth pain has eased. So quiet in Wanaka when it's not the school holidays!

Tooth Pain and back pain are the worst I reckon, both are debilatating. My tooth was so bad walking down Mt Iron, which I didn't film, I couldn't even talk, I wanted to just lay there on the trail... I reckon it was still so busy in Wanaka, no where to park at day time, and it wasn't the school holidays, It would be chaos when it is.

@@leopardsgowild touch wood I haven't had bad back pain but two abscesses in my time, worst unescapable condition I've ever experienced. Yeah Wanaka is madly busy.
Another great video. Amazing footage. Will be heading down there hopefully next year. Would love to do some walks but some of those roads don’t look good for a 7m Motorhome. Well done with the hiking kids. Great effort 🤗😀🤗

Love, love, love the drone shots. I, apparently, grind my teeth at night. That lead to TMJ. A mouth guard at night fixed it. I found that Orajel helps the pain. Glad you are better.

I don't think I grind my teeth, just Bite down... all of my teeth on the left side were in pain it was horrible... I need to et one of those night guards. Very limited places to fly the drone in this part of the country...no drones in National parks or near airports
Excitingly, we'll be there soon on honeymoon from the UK. Utterly beautiful! We're staying in Wanaka; what's your "must see" suggestion as we're only there for one day.
Ah Mike, you're too tense! Unclench thise teeth! Lol. The country continues to look spectacular and your weather mostly kind. My dog Rocky, (remember him?) Would have loved those piles of autumn leaves. He lived the sound it made when he ran through them. We got ordered off our boats tonight with a tsunami alert. Thank The Lord it didn't happen!

I know I don't know why I do it, I'm not stressed which was the dentist's thought. That would have been stressful being ordered off the boat. Where did you go? Glad there was no Tsunami

@@leopardsgowild there was a gathering of evacuated boaties in the carpark, waiting to see what happened. We were allowed back after about an hour and a half. Lucky it was not a cold wet night. Actually quite pleasant socializing with other boaties.
Thanks, I'm totally going to do some of that stuff next time I'm down there. Is the skyline really hilly or is it runnable; how does the gradient compare with Kepler, say? I think I'm going to head down there in July, on the way to the office in Dunedin; I just bought a ticket for the All Blacks v Aussie in Dunners so I'm timing it for that! Hopefully I have time to do a bit of Fjordland while I'm down there but we'll have to see. Great to see you've gone way past 3000 subscribers now; chuffed for you guys!
@leopardsgowild

The Skyline trail I think is harder than the Kepler.. the grind up to Roys Peak is very similar to Mt Fyffe in Kaikoura, but once you reach the summit, your only 8km into your 24km... THen you got a steep down hill, with a very steep uphill to the summit of Mt Alpha, then it's 8km of down hill 2 stream crossings and some muddy section to finish it off, but the views are incredible... I wouldn't want to do it in summer, there is no shade the entire way. Well worth doing though.

@@leopardsgowild Fantastic, thanks for such a detailed description. Hmm, you may remember I did Mount Fyffe after I saw you guys did it, and I couldn't walk properly for days! :-D My fault for jogging most of the way down :-/ So I'm glad you pointed out the comparison. Think I'll hike it first and then maybe have a crack at running it later in the year as my running improves. When I say run, I'd not be running the inclines; I'd walk them.
Nice video Mike so there's no free capping around this area.
