Wanaka is one of the most popular tourist destinations in New Zealand with lots of amazing attractions to visit. During our recent NZ Road Trip, we stayed there for several days to film Wanaka: Top Things To Do travel vlog with lots of useful info about places you can visit there including Wanaka Tree (#thatwanakatree), Roys Peak, Cardrona Ski Resort, Mt Iron, Lake Wanaka and other beautiful destinations of the area!
When thinking about top things to do in Wanaka, the first image to come to mind is probably That Wanaka Tree. Beautiful tree in the picturesque landscape of Lake Wanaka is one of the most photographed New Zealand spots on Instagram! Every year tourists from all over the world come to Wanaka to take a picture of this fabulous tree. But there is so much more to see and do there!
Located very close to Wanaka, Cardrona Alpine Resort is a popular destination for winter holidays in New Zealand. Lots of locals, tourists and international athletes come to Cardrona to do skiing and snowboarding or just to have fun in this amazing place. Cardrona is our favourite Ski Resort in New Zealand and we love spending time there!
Another spot Wanaka is famous for is Roys Peak. This is a challenging walking track for a whole day that takes you to a viewing point with an absolutely breathtaking 360-view of Lake Wanaka and surrounding mountains. Roys Peak Wanaka is one of the most difficult walks we've ever done as it is physically challenging, steep and also quite muddy in winter. But the view from the top is so rewarding and definitely worth the 6 hours climb.
