As a manc I love Liverpool, Liverpool has many grand buildings, great pubs and a great history. I see Liverpool equal to us, shame football divides us. Im sure Westminster is the problem and not us from the two greatest cities in the north west. great video.

I'm a scouser from Walton, I love Manchester too, all my favourite bands are manny bands, take football out of it and were 2 giants or working class labour strong holds - that pub he was outside, parts of it date back to the 15th century, the school attached to it is also ancient, walton pre dates liverpool, walton Church you saw, is in the doomsday book, a church was on the site recorded over a thousand years, me dads funeral was there he went to Alsop, the plough was my local for years all thru the benitez years, haunted gaff, the black horse, over the years 9 suicides, major notorious boozer over the years and terribly haunted, the whole of County Rd into rice Lane and the Vale is a lay line, all the ale houses have got ghost stories along that route, the history of walton is fascinating

@@paulsprouse7239 wow great write up. Very interesting . Our cities are in decline because we are working class people , we are the backbone of the working class, have us divided and Westminster rules both of us. Im not a football fan either way. Im a boxing fan and in this sport we love everyman who walks in the square ring regardless where their from.

Liverpool, with all its unique intricacies, is a fascinating melting-pot of all that society has to offer, both good and bad. From a sociology point of view, I think you do a great job chronicling the life and times of that great city. You should be proud of yourself for capturing the living history of Merseyside and your work is much valued.

I remember taking a group of foreign businessmen to a game at Goodison after picking them up from Lime Street and they couldnt believe that massive football clubs in this country don't help regenerate their local areas. To them its just baffling - utter poverty alongside clubs spending millions on individuals. LFC have done a bit but its pretty pathetic instead of funding regeneation programmes.

I'm a Liverpool supporter and have worked in a few different charity organizations helping vulnerable people and personally I think Everton far out do Liverpool in how much they support the area of the club's and the city and county as a whole, I might be wrong like. but I know for sure that Everton totally out fund Liverpool in the city when it comes to young people, mental health, homeless and substance misuse issues and people involved or previously involved in criminality. Well done efc for that.

Hey Billy that building around the pizza place at 03:03 is the entrance to the old monkey zoo from the 1800's. If you look above the Pizza sign you can still see the monkeys in the white paint. Its Grade One listed and cant be knocked down. Apparently it was a major attraction at the time in the UK and King George V visited and named the pub Prince of Wales the Sod House because they used to put sods (wet chunks of soil and grass) on the barrels to keep them cool.

When Everton move, I fear for the Walton community, the businesses and the residents. I know the club are working on keeping the fire burning, but it’s so sad. On a more positive note, I didn’t know the McCartney fact, and great teasing segway about similarities between the tower at the old hospital and the one in Fazackerly, both on the right heading into town from Kirkby. Fabulous stuff this. Hats off….btw I think we have a common link with ‘Jimmy Mc’ from Nursery St, Scottie, (my late Uncle) who’s very best mate was shall we say close to you, drove a white pick up van around Nethy etc.

I was one of the first trainee welders taken on to make them alleygates which are very unknown to outsiders as we are the only area with south Sefton, birkenhead, knowsley an st helens areas to have them in every jigger (entry) in them areas. The reason they were put up was cus of the huge amount of crime that existed in are jiggers from house burgs, drug dealing and stashing and also acted as amazing warrens for people who did not want to be seen by the plod. In some areas you could walk a few miles without having to walk down a street, thats how extensive are alleyway system was. Anyway a proven fact we learnt on the training course was that in the 90,s the crime in the city was so bad that when the alley gates were put up firstly in the most crime rudden areas that they reduced crime 6 times more effectively than the police could. Most of the population of Merseyside are unaware of the huge impact that these alley gates had and still have when it comes to drug dealing and house burglaries especially. Irs not the piluce keeping your street safe. Its them weird gates that you have at the end of every street.

as an Evertonian, even tho its progress for the club, i voted against a move to a new stadium because im also from Walton, born right in the shadow of that ground and you think this area is bad now, wait till Everton moves, there will be nothing for this area !..i used to play footy down them subbies and we meet up with some mates and arse about on the island that leads up to the road but the bizzies used to turn up to move us on, dont know wether that happens today, when you live there its sound you dont notice how bad it is, i love Walton but to be fair tho a lot of young families there now are quite happy to sit on their arse claiming benefit...one girl now living in my old street has 3 dogs that shit all over the place she never has a thought to clean up after them and spend all day just shouting their names to "get in" !..and she must be typical because just walking to the game your dodging massive stools of dog shit everywhere, so theyve got no money but they do have dogs. .!..the comings and going between the houses also is class !...

Enjoyed your Vid Bill ,but Walton’s definitely not as bad as you made out. All though, I have seen a steady decline over the past 10 past years or so & most of the shops on County Road seemed to have vanished overnight also The community is not what it used to be, but I’d still prefer to live here than several other areas in Liverpool never mind, the UK..😀

Alright Billy, It`s not a bad area as places to live go, no boarded up or burnt out houses, plenty of worse areas but when Everton move it`ll go down hill with the pubs going and the small shops, chippys etc will go, shame. no reason for EFC to leave L4 as Goodison could easily have been renovated- that bit of Walton will be ripe for a land grab by multi-national companies when the de-population starts
