Both Ripper and Wally are gone. I remember this show when it aired! I'm originally from Los Angeles and The Wally George Show was a staple on Saturday nights.

The late, great Don Ross, my mentor and great friend. While I've learned more about working out and fitness in the passing years, it was Ross that showed me how it was done. Gone, but not forgotten. And Wally George... George was the man!

It's either September or October, 1985. Wally's commentary that day mentioned cigarette taxes, and previous guest Manuel Lopez mentioned debates in Congress involving a program to bring in 350,000 people in from across the border. Both of those were in the news in late September/early October.

Ross was my mentor wayyyyyy back when I started lifting weights as a cretious teenager. Wrestler and a great trainer. He won a few bodybuilding contests in his time as well. But... this whole segment was a work. Don told me as much back then, and I knew about the biz when i was 10

As a know-nothing English boy from Manchester, this show is utter genius and I am for one so sad that I never saw this when I was growing up but now so happy having seen it! Utter genius. We need Wally's in this world! HE has a picture of John Wayne on the wall. Wally's getting told by an articulate 300lb Bronx Bull.

ah man, why did ripper get cut off? he was proving his point. you know, i had forgot about wally george, so this takes me back, but you know what? wally is a product of the politically correct reagan era. he would fit right in with today's bush era with rush limbaugh & other conservative talk show hosts on the radio. it would make a person sick listening to this shit.
