I live in the American Gardens building on West 81st Street, on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, in a balanced diet, in a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do 1, 000 now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water-activated gel cleanser then a honey-almond body scrub, and on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for ten minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm, followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

The character of G.G. I'm telling you right now is sheer genius. You think he finally let fox in cause he tried hard and had some illegal smoke LOL. Gekko thinks 10 steps ahead. He knew all about fox before he stepped foot in his office. He knew he needed a pawn to follow the British millionaire around and bud fox was the perfect prey. He tested him with the "last man to know" line. Cause he wanted to know what kind of pawn fox would make. G.G played this beautifully. And btw I just farted

Great as the scene is, a small Hollywood prop mistake here I think - the Cuban cigar box sounds hollow when Gekko puts it down on the desk - no cigars inside - they do this with bags of groceries actors are carrying all the time; obviously overly light, empty boxes and air inside just for looks...see what you think on the re-watch. Yes, come to think of it now, it could have all been intended to be a put-on in that scene, like, maybe an act for Bud's benefit, either for Gekko to bait info out of him, or just so Gekko could see how he reacted and get a better idea of who he was dealing with. That is possibly what the idea was, sometimes, the intentions of the writers in movies are not always obvious to see. But, at the time, I always saw that scene as basically a demonstration of Gekko's ability to multi-task, which I guess many of the most successful people within this industry would have to be good at, considering the fast-moving pace of the environment, the relentless flow of all kinds of different information that they needed to analyse within a short space of time, in order to make the right decisions and make money out of it.

Dog = stock with slow growth Dog with fleas = stock with slow growth, that looks like it has more potential than it does "Not bad for a quant" = a quant is a guy who uses computer programmes to analyse stocks. It's a derogatory term, suggesting Bud doesn't know what he's talking about, and is a lower-level player. Gordon would already have hundreds of quantitive analysts working for him, feeding him this type of data.
