Went to Wall Street in ‘93, partially due to the movie. I started at GS and now 30 years later, I can tell you that the movie’s insights were spot on. “Life all comes down to a few moments” is more true than I realized at age 22 when I got started.

Bud Fox owes Gekko for bringing him in and teaching him the game, he never even attempted to pay him back. So what does Gekko do? He finally gets ahold of his $100 million then he turns it into a Billion dollars! Completely fucking inspirational. Tell me me he wasn’t a fighter and ultimately, a winner! 🏆

The greed is good speech is worthy of being heard in its entirety. It’s very accurate- substitute “enlightened self interest” and it more accurate but less powerful. The idea that capitalism is a zero sum game is totally false- that’s a major category error.

Gordon Gekko sure says a lot marxist stuff for a (ironically) right-wing icon. You know that monologue in the I don't create, I own scene where Bud barges into his Gordon's office? Could've been ripped right from the pages of Das Kapital. He actually explains the basics of marxists theory, worker exploitation and un-just economic rent better than most leftists. But then again, he was always intended to do just that.
