    Great idea and application. I have been picking up well abused and unloved chisels. Bringing them back to life with sharp edges and bright metal is one thing, but knocking off the plastic handles and building beautiful wooden ones is the next level. This is JUST the thing to keep them safe and to appreciate one's work.

    I built something almost identical for chisel storage in my rack, but I also attached a small sheet of scrap lexan over the bottom of the blade area so that there is no possibility of contact between chisel tips and errant hands. It looks cool, too.

    Dawn, I'm going to put together a video of the board in general, but not of each item. Some of them are very simple, and what remains can be covered in a general video. That said, I'm glad to know you're interested in the board - it's been a lot of work, lol.

    Very nice, Tommy! I really like the simple and functional design. I also like how it could easily be adapted for a French cleat system like I plan to put in my shop soon. Great video, Tommy! - Joe

    screw a strip of clear perspex along the bottom front edge to protect the sharp chisel edges.

  • @just-dl

    thoughts on this: what about the bottom piece (the "finger protector") being shaped like a french cleat, so that the tips are even more "encased" behind protective material. perhaps a bit of leather lining, to prevent the tips from getting dull? Not sure if that extra bit "to get behind" would make inserting and extracting chisels more difficult.

  • @OneMinuteWorkbench

    Thank you, Grant! I hear ya...that's exactly what was going on with mine. I also had trouble seeing them because they'd roll around in the drawer they were in, get out of order, and/or get covered by other tools. This is really part of a larger project, which is the wall-mounted tool board with all my most used tools. My goal is to be able to see everything, yet have them secured to the wall in way that they are easy to grab, but hard to accidentally knock off. Anyway, thanks again!

    Where can I get chisels that are good but not a million dollars? Not the greatest? But not poor quality? Basically? Can do the job. I am new at this.

  • @OneMinuteWorkbench

    @OneMinuteWorkbench

    The chisel I show in the video are Narex, and the are very good quality. You can find a set like mine on Amazon for about $100. Now, if you're just getting started out, you can go to Harbor Freight and buy a set for just a few bucks. They aren't terrible, and if you keep them sharp, you'll be plenty happy with those for a long time. In fact, if you buy a cheap set and learn how to sharpen and use those, you'll be in a better position to buy a good set, because you'll have made all your learning curve mistakes on the cheap set. I hope this helps!
