Wall mount hidden fold-out Sapele art table with backlight

This video shows the build of an art table I recently made that is essentially a large picture frame mounted to the wall, but has a hidden, fold down table build into it with an integrated backlight for picture tracing. The project is made from Sapele wood, and has custom made stainless steel hardware.

This is so rad! The magnet clip light on the end is genius too. I think my wife would love one of these too!

Wow, what a great project. I didn't know you had metal working skills with stainless steel no less. I have dabbled with it on my mini mill just enough to know how difficult and different it is from working with wood. I might have attempted those pieces in aluminum or brass but stainless steel is just a bridge too for for me. Hats off to you.

Thanks, but it was mostly just simple cutting, drilling, and some welding, with a little torch and hammer action on the stainless. I don't like metal work because it's dirty and the shavings are sharp so it doesn't mix well with woodworking. However, sometimes you have no choice 😄
