@@XiyuYang To be fair, the legatos in Albion One aren't comprehensive over the whole orchestra (like for the brass you get two sets of octaves and one mid patch). They're great, but only useful in specific circumstances. This new library seems to have more detail in the core orchestral content - i.e. the ensemble patches which is what this library is about. I think if I were choosing today, between the two, I'd go for Abbey Road One partly because of that? I say that as someone who uses Albion One *a lot* Also, it depends if you're after an all-in-one package, or if you're pairing this library with one that isn't based on ensembles (Like BBCSO or EW Hollywood Orchestra or whatever). In my instance, because I have legatos from other sources, I don't need this to come with legatos by default. The ensemble patches are what I'm after in this instance. Talking about price, you may get more bang for your buck with Nucleus compared to this, but this is still quite competitively priced if you compare it to a lot of what else is out there (Cinesamples, Orchestral Tools, Vienna Symphonic Library etc.).

I really wonder, certainly after the West World Scoring debacle. We'll never forget that one . . . a huge mistake. I want to invest in promising stuff but I don't want to end up on a road with a dead end again. However, I think that in other to make this one a true "all in one" library, you should've included PIANO and HARP sounds. But this one is closer than Albion One, as you have true orchestral percussion. I like how the woodwinds sound more "flute-like" than in Albion One. And all the instruments in general sound really good. So you've done a very great job! Unlucky me, I already have a lot of the Air Studio One libraries and I don't have a lot of money for this. I pair BBCSO Core with Albion One (which is divided into sections in a similar way to this) and it’s really useful as it allows me to write in sections as well as individual instruments. Like for example, I’ll often write string parts with two hands using the strings patch in Albion One, and then work out how I’m dividing the parts into individual sections using BBCSO... or just leave it with Albion One as that does give a different colour... or some combination of the two.

I was all in when I listened to the strings and brass, but when I heard the high woodwinds I was just "no, no, no, no." They sound lumped together and like a synth patch. For the wood winds I really would not want them lumped together. In fact, I really would like them soloed. Now you say I can buy extensions later. But what extensions? "We have things planned" would imply to me that you know. But you don't tell me. Your FAQ doesn't tell me. That's a big ask to buy this and not know where it goes either. [EDIT: PS - I sound a bit too harsh! I'm still grateful for the walkthrough, it was helpful to form an opinion, and while marketing is marketing, I still appreciate the effort.]

Maybe with long notes it can sound legato. Even Originals instruments, knowing what you are doing, can sound like a legato. But the key is to use long notes in a really fast passage with short notes. There is where the legato shines the most and the long patch sounds ugly.

I've replicated all the sounds in BBCSO Pro. The problem is the orchestra patches can't handle that many patches playing in unison on my computer. No idea why - it's on SSD, running 64 gb. The free Palette brass patch from Red Room Audio works as a nice replacement for the brass, and originals epic woodwinds fills in for the woodwinds, for the orchestral patches.

8G RAM is not gonna work, for this to work you need at least 16G, to have a somewhat fluid workflow, you're looking at 32G. Sample libraries don't have that high a demand for processors - then again since you're producing music, you definitely need good ones. I'm not sure how yours stack up against i9, but quad core is the least you could get away with.

People put too much stock in performance legato. I scored plenty of indie films back in the day with EWQLSO which had no true legato patches. Legato transitions are nice little detail, but surely not make or break in my opinion. When i saw the email from Spitfire, i went to the Abbey Road One page, and just listened to the Demos without looking at any of the details whatsoever. I wanted to just listen without thinking about price point, or anything. I listened , and i thought, WOW. That sounds fantastic! I certainly didn't think "Hey, i dont hear any legato transitions!!" And i seriously doubt the film director would miss then either. LOL If you can't make this library sound incredible, then your problems span beyond lack of true legato patches. I'm willing to bet that most of the "complainers" are people that sit around waiting for the next product to come out that they can whine about, and have never actually scored a film. You won't hear complaints from real live working composers.
