Finally, a no nonsense review I can trust. And I absolutely agree that FPV system choice is very subjective, but some reviewers seem to care more about big brands than they do about the community and future proofing the hobby. Of course the DJI system is more polished now, but people seem to forget how flakey and unreliable it was when it first came out. I think it's amazing that Caddx/Walksnail could produce such a competitive product, given they have nowhere near the budget to invest in R&D compared to DJI. Sure they launched it in a Beta state with sometimes that's what companies need to do to raise capital and stay alive. How many people have bought Teslas hoping they'll have level 5 full autonomous self-driving capability someday, which they keep promising and probably will never deliver? Don't be fooled, this is just their way of raising capital. 😂

It has come on massively. I was concerned at first and tbh so much was wrong it was crazy and much of it was big issues too but today it’s 90%+ there. There are still missing features like spectator mode allowing second goggles to watch, and some other little things but these are not deal breakers today. Walksnail/CaddX have really managed to make it a very compelling options and the new Fatshark Recon to is great to see. It’s a massive time for digital FPV, DJI O3 launches this week, we have Avatar and HDZero goggles soon. The revolution has started. I will also add while many complain about CaddX in all the bad things Iv said on the system they have been communicating with me throughout and always took the feedback well. They have listened and they have taken action. That’s more than DJI have ever done with out massive noise first. Imo CaddX and DJI splitting up has been one of the best things to happen in FPV for a long time. Nice overview Lee, stay safe.

I have not even considered HD before this. So glad to see a video I can trust about the system. I won't buy from DJI, so my choices have been limited. I love my Fatshark HDO's , even though they are originals. The cost is a huge factor, one most digital people fail to mention.

@@nikotttin In some markets like the UK and Europe it's getting cheaper to fly HD. As there is such limited analogue supply here the prices are going even higher than HD, that's if you can even find the stock. A decent set of Analogue goggles costs the same, if not more than HD goggles and buying a quality VTX and Camera takes you close to the cost of an air unit. Ofcourse you can still buy very cheap analogue gear, but if you're comparing quality analogue with quality HD there's nothing between them.

I completely agree with your assessment, of things that require adding and fixing to make this product great. Its good to hear they're working on recording the OSD to the DVR. And true HDMI out. I hope they add spectator mode as well. And fix the iNAV custom OSD. It doesn't display the AHI or home arrow, as the default does. But they're getting there, which is encouraging for the hobby. 🙂

Was looking forward to this and your views didnt disappoint. Excellent video What id like to add for anyone reading this is the folowing: Hdzero not just good for racers it excels over the other systems including walksnail (I have both) and it's new 1s board in Micros such as whoops 65+75mm. (Kwads) And I'd say in this country and many others the regulations are pushing those of us in the hobby to fly smaller and smaller but still wanting best flight performance from less mass in the vtx's and flight time over image quality. That said the walksnail 1s on a 3 inch micro is a fabulous combination of performance and image quality. So good to have best of both if you can afford it......

I barely use Flight controllers so osd isnt really important to me, I fly with DJI which works well for me and Skyzone Cobra X analog goggles. I still trust analog more for my 10 mile flights but i'm slowly gaining trust with Digital for long range haha. I was thinking about getting the walksnail vrx combo to use on my skyzones but time will tell haha

I've been flying the HDZero system (SharkByte as it was then!) with my HDO2s using the HDMI input and because the screens are OLED and a decent resolution the image was visibly clearer and more detailed than analogue FPV.. Your goggles are 800 x 480, the HDO2s are 1280 x 960...

When I got into FPV, the SkyZone 03O's and DJI HD came out that week. HD being new, I went with the 03O's. Great goggle. OLED screens, power button, fan, even a forward facing external camera and LED lights (why???). But..... no external module. With cost of things, I can not just buy new goggles, leaving me behind in the era of HD. Now with Walksnail VRX system, I have the option of using the HDMI input on the goggles to get a better quality image. I really hope Walksnail keeps improving and becomes more popular, because thats the only way I can upgrade.

@Terminal Insanity, you are spot on and this is a point I made in the first video on the system: Existing HD FPV pilots will need a compelling reason to change and their just isn't one IMHO. But, for analogue pilots (who still make up 60% of pilots) the decision is a little more interesting..

It is a shame that they shipped the system in that state, the terrible firmware and even worse the bad antennas. I guess next easter or summer we might see the final evolution of the system and goggles. Meanwhile all the others will have arrived soon like Ocusync 3 and HD Zero goggles which then should also have ironed out their biggest flaws - at least if DJI had gotten the heat issue fixed. Can not wait to see your dolphin upgraded and how it performs compared the previous system.

I think t hat a few more months in development before release would have reduced a lot of the issues and confusion at launch. That Rotor Riot 'preview' video felt like a pure marketing stunt with all of them being part of the same RedCat group that FatShark is part of too. Very incestuous and underhand IMHO. But, the system has come on in leaps and bounds in the last 4 months and is now something I'm happy to talk about in a positive way. Happy flying!
