Walking The Tightrope of Free Choice

If G-d is love, then why does He allow evil in the world? Does He create it? Why do bad things happen to good people? Does G-d need our praise? Responding to viewers' email questions, these are some of the issues that Jim Long and Rabbi Chaim Richman consider in this week's Jerusalem Lights podcast, examining the sources of Torah and seeking answers to some of humanity's most ancient and poignant existential dilemmas.

I have for some time struggled with understanding making bruchot I know the greater blesses the lesser, I am NOT the greater, so I feel compelled to say thank YOU HaShem💝 for all of YOUR love toward me instead of blessed are YOU HaShem💝

Steps and walking in Torah is observing halacha is it not? So we walk and express our love and devotion to HaShem💝 in obedience continuing to resemble HaShem💝 more and more. The path of the righteous grows ever brighter unto that perfect day

I appreciate this all so much, i would love for you to go further with this though and address things like ...child rape 😢 it's very hard to think that when a child is abused like that, it is, somehow, in the long-run, "for their good" or Hashems will or anything like that. Can you please speak to these harder topics? I can accept that everything happens for a reason and all the other stuff. But I need a much deeper dive to be able to understand how something like child rape can be reconciled. Hope that makes sense.

Slavery, is another form of this type violence that you are describing against the child of GOD(CREATOR OF ALL THINGS MADE). When we as humans ask why? It becomes mind bothersome and reasoning goes by the way side. Therefore, we cease to ask why, and seek for understanding and Truth. What will come, will come. What it is, will be. There is good and there spoiled, there is love and there is evil. These spiritual things comes to all humanity, so asking why, may not be what to ponder. Maybe what could come from this type of violence is change in our own lives to become a better human being. ❤💯😇🙌🗣🎶OH SPIRIT OF TRUTH, OH SPIRIT OF LOVE, HELP US TO SEE, HELP US HEAR, THE GRACE, AND MERCY GIVEN TO HUMANITY A GIFT TO US ALL🎶🗣HAL EL U YAH🎶....🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏👏😇😇😇👁👁🥨🤔🙄😏🤭

Shalom. It came up in me to think that G'd, with Jews have turn a light on about what is going. Maybe, it was also in past, signale but was it, we are ready to understand the concept (also cruel is).

Simple it’s called free will you must have a choice,as the TORAH❤ states❤ “Choose you this day whom you serve. That’s a❤day by day decision.

Our relationship should be honest and therefore real with Hashem like job knowing that God understands that we’re human therefore flawed as he made us as well being human limited in our understanding of life and the whys in others words God understands that we don’t understand just as a farther understand that his child is not mature and understanding as he the farther is

The short answer is this... God is absolutely 'powerless' against the freewill given to man. The ability comes from the spirit that was breathed into us. "I form light and I create darkness. I make peace and I create evil: I the Lord do ALL these things." ~ Isaiah 45:7

I would disagree. Hashem is all powerful and that he is absolutely powerless against free will isn’t true. Remember he opened the ground and wiped out a clan for their free will decision to rebel. Be careful in portraying HaShem as having any weakness.

What choice did the Rabbis who had the attributes of Gd in their hearts that die in the holocaust had? Their choice was life but the choice of a natzi was stronger..so strength kills choices in this world made by Gd. Might is right? The might of the wicked destroys our good choices by purpose of will. So, they said, " they were murdered but Gd welcomed them all in Heaven." But down here the bad taste of evil remains and we as humans in this evil world judge Gd for creating evil because it does us a great despicable harm but Gd is untouched by evil and so are His angels. So, whats so rational about saying all these explanations? WE WANT ELIYAHU NOW! So that evil be wiped out of the earth by Moshiach.

Inasmuch Maimonides, to assume any attributes to God is idolatry, so it is idolatry to say that He is love... that is the cliché of the idolatry in catholicism. Hashem is above of any of our conceptions.
