‘Blizz lines’ are part of everyday life in Antarctica - safety ropes connecting one building to another, that expeditioners must follow in blizzards when wind strength is immense and it may be impossible to see.
Here’s a tradie commute at Mawson research station, in a blizzard with wind gusts hitting 90 knots. Mawson is no stranger to blizzard conditions, with double the average number this March, and 36 hours of continuous blizzards in April.

You walk in a spiral in an attempt to find your way back, but all you see is white. Your screams are completely drowned out by the wind. You start to get cold...
