There is not a hiking video of yours that I did not like. I love them all equally. I watch you while I am on my treadmill, than I put you on, and than I zone out, by listening to your every word and seeing all the beauty on your hikes. My workout fly's by because all my focus is on your Hike. You are such a great narrator and your videos are perfect. Love the combination of the villages, *Castles, landscape, the sky's, the ocean, flowers, trees, rocks, history and the fossils you found, how lucky. I have always wanted to find a fossil. Runswick bay was lovely when we were there. The whole community came out and we're having a cricket match on the beach. The children were enjoying it while the adults played this is so Yorkshire for me. This what Yorkshire people are. Community. So lovely.

I loved this ❤ I'm from Cleveland so this was quite familiar to me as I'm up there quite often. Lord stones and cringle Moor are probably my favourite go to. I love how informative and educational your videos are and Brian is indeed an absolute legend!!! Stay wild.. and I'm looking forward to seeing your future adventures 😀

I walked a large part of the Cleveland Way back in 1990 with a friend of mine. It was a great experience. But memories have faded so much that the vast majority of this vid feels completely new to me. Having watched this, I feel I must come back one day to do the bit I misses.

Hello ladies, I've binge watched a lot of your walks and the Cleveland way going past Saltburn a number of times. Just so you know people don't always fall from the cliffs in desperation, sometimes they leave unscathed as I did. Your walk Abbie past Saltburn cliffs inspired me to write my experience of it, hope you like... A Midnight Drive. How I arrived at my proposed destination on such a dark summer's night I do not know, or if the journey was ever planned. My foggy drive on arrival seemed lost to me along with its purpose, just as many a knight had lost sight of the chalice. I had arrived though, I knew that, safe in body and unsound of mind. All reason seemed lost and irrelevant, and as unimportant and as distant as the stars that shone above. I had challenges to perform, yes, it came back to me, and more important than all others, and with a will that was strangely not completely my own, though I was convinced and determined to succeed. Indeed, failure would be cowardly and unforgiveable. Such was the hold held over me on that warm and clear-starry night. However, contrary to my strange notions, here it was, my destination anticipated or not, a cliff edge high above the soft sands of Saltburn beach, peppered with large rocks that appeared from the heights as harmless beach pebbles one could hold completely in hand. Saltburn by the Sea, its full name, is my place of birth some 40 years earlier. It always seemed to be a happy place, of rock pools and sandcastles, tides and fresh air. What better place to be born than within a holiday resort with memories in decades of leisurely holidays taken, stretching back a hundred years or more, and a launch pad for fishing cobbles, fishing for any fishes that gave way for the rowdy fisherman of the roaring North Sea to catch. Saltburn had always drawn me to its beaches for one reason or more, and now for the last cause. To my left, far below silhouetted against the grey of the waves, ran the pier, like a black engineered finger pointing the way across the sea to the horizon. Above it, high on the cliff streetlights danced a twinkle to support the stars, barely lighting the facades of buildings standing as darkened monoliths, many with glazed eyes curtained against the world. Sleep in repose was fast behind those eyes in perfect peace I remember thinking, and would they care to read the snippet in their morning paper of the scene found on their beautiful beaches, ''Pass the jam, please,'' they may say at their breakfast tables. The whole scene was in peace though, only I existed with thoughts, harmony within me felt strong, though I trembled at the task I faced at times. To my right ran further cliffs, dark tufts of grass at the edges looked like the fringed neck of some great horse seemingly wishing to take the dive, it waved a 'come on' in the slight up breeze, which sailed over the edges and me to the fields beyond. The blackness of these cliffs, the pier and the monoliths contrasted the sky, though only in the merest shade, and the sea seething as it does a little darker yet. All colours were missing. Perhaps a metaphor for my life, colourless, un-caring, and belligerent in sleep, a life in mono, an unwarranted notion given the reality I lived. As a working family man, with a home to fill to the overflow of modern day objects, and food to supply my ability to do so was sound enough. Even when the dark shadows appeared, I could endure. These psychotic shadows are a friend to none, and certainly not to me. There I stood, looking out as far as the world allowed and higher still into the heavens. Thoughts abound, and time had moved so much, moving like a cool stream in fast flow of memories following in tight succession and illogically tiresome. Until the smooth run of my children's hair and skin, and the smoothness of their smiles won through, contrasting the darker memories of cuts and drips of my blood. As I smiled along with their remembered smiles, the sky lightened as it usually does before the dawn's sun has fully risen. The brighter colours, the living colours, were beginning to return to the sky whilst the stars faded their twinkle to mere dots of light, then out and gone to the coming redness of the risen sun. Clouds had taken to fly pinks, mauves and purples in various shade and lightness as they pulsated in their roundness. Birds followed the cue and from the woods, a little inland all silence escaped. Thereon become the unfolded beauty in light and sound. Hours had passed as I stood, my knees weakened by the hours of tormented meditation. In a moment of brightness, I lowered myself to sit, legs and feet dangling from the cliff edge. I had returned to the world, the shadows of despair had dissipated. I was free, indeed, to drink in my family and the scene before me. I was freed. Although as Milton states, ''Darkness, once gazed upon, can never be lost.'' TW.

I love when you show your campsites, with your tent pitched & you cooking on your jet oil system, it just break up the long walks day. Good stuff.

Watched your vlog on Helmsley to Filey on the Cleveland way.Came across it after we had done the first leg in reverse from Sutton Bank to Helmsley !Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed it.Your gentle style of presentation is brilliant and a joy to watch as well as being informative and concise.Glad you enjoyed your visit to Yorkshire,we are lucky that both the NY moors and its coastline are only an hour or so away from where we live.We regularly do a more gentler stroll from Goathland to Grosmont.Its around 4 miles and very easy,the hi lite being the 20 minute return journey on the NY Moors steam railway.We can thoroughly recommend it.Subscribed to your channel to make sure we don't miss anything and will be having a look at previous episodes. Great video, really shows the trail off superbly. One thing you missed out on, which you need to visit if you return, is the seal colony at Ravenscar. You see the rocky outcrop of beach/land where they are basking in the sun during your video around 1hr 28mins. It's probably a 1hr detour, depending on how long you visit them for and the trail down is good fun. Also, in Runswick, if you ever do get stuck behind the high tide and don't want to hang around you can head up the road from the beach into the top part of the village, turn left up Ellerby lane then after you've passed all the houses on your right there is a small path up from the road to your left into what looks like a row of trees/hedgerow. Follow this singletrack and you pass through a couple of gates and end up on the old railway line (which you found after Lythe). This follows a circular route towards Kettleness, where you can easily pick up the Cleveland Way again. This way is a bit longer, but weather/timing depending it may be better than hanging around at the entrance to the beach for a few hours while the tide changes.

Hi. My husband and I walked it from Whitby to robin hood's bay. Was great. Enjoyed it. I am a Yorkshire lass and proud of it. Love the north Yorkshire coast. Beautiful. So at home for me. Lots of places to see and do. I love staithes and Runswick bay. These two places are dry close to each other. Have u been to them abbey.

Hi Abbey. Well I've only just discovered your channel and I love your vids. They have provided some light in a dark place called Covid lockdown, here in Wollongong NSW Aus. About 85km south of Sydney. Might I say what a delightful young lady you are and its great to see you out walking. I have a little age on me and before she married and had babies my daughter walked with me. I still walk a bit but the knees are a bit testy so I mostly get around in my 4x4, which allows me to camp out further and into the deserts. Your landscape is different but similar to ours. some of it reminds me of Tasmania and the "little bit up little bit down" reminds me of some great walks in the escarpment and valleys within a few hours drive. Abbie I came across your walking videos a few days ago. I have watched a few and especially the one you walked across Mont Blanc. Amazing, beautiful and isn't Mother Nature wonderful. We, my partner Andy and myself love your videos and especially the one when you walked The South Downs Way, as we live near Winchester and have walked part of the SDW ourselves. I have suffered from Depression and getting outside is a real tonic and does help! Have you ever thought of hiking through the New Forest? Or have you? We do a lot of Night Walking in the Forest with friends. Walking is good, healthy and keeps you in touch with Nature.
