Great video. I’m planning on doing the Camino in 1 or 2 week stages over the next couple of years (live in SW France so not far to get there). And will be taking similar kit. I’d say you could ditch the mosquito net, headlamp, washing line and rain pants (poncho covers enough of the lower body). Maybe add in a warm layer though. I’m intrigued by the paintings of medieval pilgrims who have just a stick, cloak and tiny shoulder bag (guessing it didn’t contain much more than a spare shirt and some food for the journey). That simplicity invokes a sense of freedom and adventure, where one can be more present for the Camino and the people encountered along the way. Plus if you’re really missing something you can always pick it up on the way… Buen Camino

Love this. I just bought this pack. I have a Gregory 44 for backcountry camping, but wanted something for daily adventures. And yes I think I could Camino in this. How exciting! I’m a minimalist camper,... so if I’m not packing 7 days of food, a tent, stove, fuel, etc,... I think I could do it in 22 litres. Nice!,,,,, 2025 here I come Camino

If you do the Camino and use the hostels which supply beds and bedding as well as breakfast and evening meals you could probably use a 15 litre pack without a problem. Its not a trip through 2 thousand miles of wilderness.

Yeah but the rules are a bit different as far as what you need to bring. Like you actually need legit clothes and a couple different pairs of shoes and there are hostels that don't provide bedding and even those that do can be kind of sketchy. Everyone's level of comfort is different!

I did the Camino in 2013 and went pretty light but would love to do it again w a 20L trail running pack. The pockets on the chest and around the waist are awesome and osprey sells a good 15L (that’s internal size). I’d probably be bringing a nice camera too but I usually use a should strap clip from peak design and keep it handy. Great video. Buen camino!

I love the straps on the Montane Trailblazer. Mines a 30l but pack sizes vary. I think something like that would suit me if I ever get to go. :) Thanks for watching.

Ha, cool video! Thnx for sharing :) I'll be accepting this challenge for my next camino! :) Well, almost. I want to bring my 24 liter deuter sl backpack next time (probably spring 2021) vs my 32 liter from last time. Your video proves that it can be done :D I'm bringing a fleece sleeping bag which takes up a little more space than just a liner but I already managed to stuff it in the lower compartment of the bag. The only concern I have is that when it's a warm sunny day, I'm not sure my thin fleece jacket + my rain jacket will fit in the bag... so, need to figure that out before I leave ;) Buen camino my friend!

Finally, a sensible Camino base weight! If you went with an Ultralight 450g pack like the KS40 or the MLD Burn, this would free up 300g for more items/clothes, and you would have more pack volume to boot.

I have a KS4 and it's way too big for my Camino gear. I ended up going with a 4 oz 20L bag, 6 lb base weight.

Love this! My pack for my future Camino (hopefully in October) is a Salomon 20+4l. I absolutely love it, my base weight is 7lb, and there is so much space left! My mindset was only to use the things I already had at home, and make sure the weight with water would not be more than 10% of my body weight. I'm even bringing a fleece blanket AND a sleeping bag liner! I just hope I've thought everything through enough, but only time will tell

Adding after reading some other replies, I'm bringing a fleece jacket, thermal base layers to sleep and/or wear when it's cold, two pants, two long sleeve shirts, three socks, headlamp, buff, rain jacket, rain pants, wind jacket, a big towel, all the toiletries someone should need. So not sacrificing any comfort for the weight!

Thanks for the video. I will bring a 25liter frameless pack and expect a lot of room for snacks or a bag of chips on the inside.

You most likely wont be needing the headlamp, mosktio net and laundry line. Did not miss the first two and never had to use the third on my 6 weeks last year. Rest looks decent, i personally prefer jackets to ponchos but they work just fine. Buen Camino!

@@BackcountryPilgrim yeah, at some point it gets quite hard to lose more weight. I walked in mid May to mid June and even at 6 in the morning there was enough light to find my way. Depending on the season you might want to reconsider the umbrella, I wish I had one when I walked the Meseta at 32 deg Celsius...

Did you do a video reviewing this pack load out post camino? I find those review and what I'd do differently post trip helpful

Two things. First, I would not personally walk the Camino with this limited amount of gear because I am more of a comfort hiker haha. Second, I did not get to walk the Camino due to Covid, but if I ever do I will definitely do a full range of videos surrounding it! :-)

I know this is an oldish video, but I was surprised when I started watching. I used a 20L. I used all the space and would have been nice to have a little bit more space, just for back up, but I thought it was fine. I had a different brand pack and I also had a bum bag/fanny pack.

Is it possible? Well yes, as I showed in the video. Is it the best idea? I wish I could tell you haha! My Camino was cancelled due to Covid. Personally, I wouldn't go quite this ultralight as I enjoy comfort and security too much, but I bet with 30 liters I'd be fine. I have a new pack I am excited to review called the Montane Trailblazer and with that I think I'd be fine. Thanks for watching!

10 liter pack… shirt, short, nalgene, half a bar or soap, small first aid kit, pack towel, sandals. Edit: socks, a small charging plug, and a snack. You dont need anything at all for the camino. I think i had a hoodie tied around my waist.

@BackcountryPilgrim I originally said I was going to do just two outfits (but yes for the PJs) but settled on three or four for walking and one or two for chilling. I haven't decided on a pack just yet, but am planning on a 40L to do the Ruta del Norte from August 10th
