Walking Swede Hollow in St. Paul, Minnesota

The mission of Elder Trekker is to encourage seniors to remain both physically and mentally active as they age. In this video, Elder Trekker takes you on a walk through the old immigrant community called Swede Hollow, past the Hamms Brewery complex, and up to the Eastside Heritage Park. I hope this video inspires you to walk this portion of the Bruce Vento Regional Trail for yourself and to learn more about the people and business that made the east side of St. Paul their home.

I’m from St.Paul, lived there until I was 10. Have visited family many times including my Aunt in Daytons Bluff. Never knew about Swedes Hollow. Thanks to you definitely on my list for my next visit. Thanks

I’ve biked through Swede Hallow many times. I’ve stopped on occasion to look at and appreciate the masonry work on the Seventh Street Arches.

Very well done. The vast history of MSP is so interesting and vital and yet somehow neglected. Keep up the good work!

@@aldelvex235I’ve ridden through Swede H. many times over the years but have never seen encampments, but I haven’t been over there since last spring. I hope they don’t make a big mess of things. I am an avid user of our parks and trails, we are so lucky to have so many to choose from.

Walking through the east side around there best to walk with other people and maybe a dog. Having your concele and carry wouldn't hurt either.
