⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking New Orleans : Bourbon & Royal Streets, French Quarter during Golden Hour
Google Maps Route: goo.gl/maps/fDwi1CSuevSrUszF8
A walk through Bourbon Street & Royal Street in the French Quarter District of New Orleans. Bourbon Street is full of wild parties, music, and tourists every night. However, it is especially wild on weekend nights and during Mardis Gras.
From Wikipedia:
"Bourbon Street (French: Rue Bourbon) is a historic street in the heart of the French Quarter of New Orleans. Extending thirteen blocks from Canal Street to Esplanade Avenue, Bourbon Street is famous for its many bars and strip clubs.
With 17.74 million visitors in 2017 alone, New Orleans depends on Bourbon Street as a main tourist attraction. Tourist numbers have been growing yearly after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and the city has successfully rebuilt its tourist base. For millions of visitors each year, Bourbon Street provides a rich insight into New Orleans' past."

Best time to walk around B street and have a few drinks is afternoon to early evening. You can sit down and relax and chat up a bartender and locals without much of a problem. Not a real fan of B street at night as the music is pretty generic and the food over priced. Oh well it is fun to bar hop in the afternoon when its not packed like a sardine can.

Not really, the areas such as the French Quarter, Garden District, Marigny, Treme, and Downtown are walkable….but the majority of the city is like Houston, a car city….public transportation used to be reliable before Hurricane Katrina where you’d wait no more than 15 minutes for a bus….not anymore…..but for a tourist, it’s absolutely perfect, your hotel will be walking distance from everything, restaurants, attractions, Riverwalk and it’s mall, ferries, sports events, live theater, a movie theater and mall inside the Westin hotel conventions, museums, parks, bars, a wal mart, even tour buses have pickups that can bring you far out to swamps, plantations etc…..unlike NYC, you won’t need to navigate an unfamiliar public transportation system….there are 3 streetcars lines that take you to anything touristy.

@@frank-xp6pj New York cities culture is a mix off so many cultures, which is why it’s so unique, whereas New Orleans just has such a rich musical culture, same with New York though. I think that New Orleans has more of a unified culture, and not a hodgepodge of different cultures? Idk though I’m from chicago

The French and Spanish architecture of the French Quarter and New Orleans is its true treasure. I myself, prefer the old world appeal of the Garden District as opposed to Bourbon Street.

I NEEDED THIS!!! Had to cancel my last trip to NOLA due to work schedule, then Covid 19's schedule. I am soooo ready to go back...to say I'm jonesing is an understatement! (It's been 3 years & I was going every 6 mos) I could almost smell Bourbon Street...& those who have walked B Street know...the smell is only half the ambiance! So...Thank you! Also, are you using a camera or gopro or what & what do you use for balancing...this was a very smooth walk & no bounce at all...bravo!!

It's likely the uploader has a mount called a gymbal. You can buy them online at most electronics websites. It suspends the camera or GoPro under a sort of "mechanical swing" to counteract the movement of walking. The result is most of the shakiness is removed. He could also have easily run this through a software program to further smooth out the video.
New Orleans jazz is both raw and pure. Would love to visit the place one day. I could pack my old trumpet in the hope of blagging my way into a band.

Come on Down!!
I recently came back from vacation in Nola. Music was great but we did not feel safe at all. The first evening we were there we witnessed a shooting on bourbon street, next day a guy walked into a bar and shot a member of staff. Lots of drugs circulating and people under the Influence trying to scam or rob tourists. We planned where we were gonna visit and then swiftly made our way to our restaurant or hotel at the end of the day to avoid the crazies after dark. Was an experience though!

Yo 5 at 6:19 you have 2 Mardi Gras Indians from one of the handful of Mardi Gras Indians social clubs of NOLA. IT takes each member a whole year to hand stich their outfits together!!!🎭⚜✌
That guy at 8:43 in the video is so typical of how people are on bourbon street. And when you go to new Orleans just make sure to go to french market, and cafe du monde. Both are right around the corner of this video.
