Did anyone else find it funny, how Thorne was telling Michonne, Rick is her family and all that she has. While Rick pulls out his gun about to put a hole in her head if she went after his wife with that knife. When Thorne said you drew your weapon, Rick said it was to back her up 😆💀

I disagree that Rick and Michonne fell in love out of circumstances or convenience. They were best friends that are like each others ying to yang. They have soulmates qualities that balances each other. Most of his other love interest were needy damsels in distress, manipulative, and never made Rick a better man like Michonne does for him. I think Rick is broken right now but Michonne will lead him back to his senses by the end of this series.

Agreed. I'm amazed at how people can't see a true friends to lovers character arc happening in front of them. If their love was just circumstantial then they wouldn't have fought like hell to be with each other. Obviously they're on different pages but their love, their bond is still strong but they haven't had a chance to actually communicate and bond. This is why I can't wait for episode 4.

@@kayla-xd7hiThat’s not true either. They both worked in law. Rick was a sheriff deputy and Michonne was a prosecutor. That’s why they both believe in law and justice. I think traveling more and interacting with people out of your circle or community, gives you opportunities to see a variety of diverse couples and people of different backgrounds. 😊

I still find it funny Rick was called "Helicopter Boy" in season 1 and now he's a helicopter pilot.

I don't think Thorne is in love with Rick, I think she was with Okafor. She just doesn't want Rick and Dana/Michonne to mess up her position in the CRM.

I noticed how the first three episodes of this series have been “Years”, “Gone”, and “Bye”. I think this might be a reference to the first episode of TWD called “Days Gone Bye”

I'm absolutely LOVING this series and know very well that 6 episodes is just not going to be enough!!! I know the actors are making it seem like it will be these 6 episodes and that's it (in their interviews), but haven't the ratings been through the roof? If so, they won't have a choice but to continue this on. And I'm here for it!!!!

What he said was tough love. It's not about him thinking he belongs to the CRM. It's about him thinking that Michonne will get herself killed and at worst both of them, along with their family back home. As far as I can tell, Michonne was compromising everything despite what Rick told her since she was taken to the CRM, her life, his life and their family, according to Jadis. She is usually smarter than this and Rick usually would be the one to do something drastic. I don't think Rick lost his way. He was doing drastic things for 6 years up until just before Okafor died but now he is just doing his job, keeping his family safe.

I agree with this statement. Michonne is smarter than Rick and is a critical thinker. I believe where Rick messed up is NOT telling her pertinent information early - meaning as soon as he could. Hell, he wrote the note to her on the boat. He could have said then "I can't leave because they know where Alexandria is and will blow it up". Him not mentioning Jaundice was smart tho.

This dude says theyd never meet in ordinary circumstances meanwhile Rick having wet dreams about meeting her in a park randomly. 😂

Rick can't ever stopped loving Michonne. He loved Lori & tried to salvage their marriage. He would of stayed loyal to her. If ge hadnt had to kill Shane. Rick doesnt want to stay with the CRM. The CRM broke him. Jadis, Thorne & even Beale are threatening the love of his life. He would do anything to save her. Negan broke Rick. I dont know why no reviewer is pointing this out. Rick fluctuates from broken weak Rick to revengeful broken Rick. To a couple of episodes of sane Rick. Please get over Rick shooting Michonne over Thorne. Don't get it twisted. Is AMC paying you to throw in some misdirection. And noone wants to see Rick & Michonne reunite with Negan & Maggie. Morgan, Daryl & Carol would be great though.

Right! Rick was actually about to kill Thorne if she tried to hurt Michonne. He was standing behind Thorne and watching her carefully too see if she was going to hurt Michonne. And yes, Rick goes back and forth between being passive and aggressive depending on the trauma he endured.

Rick and Michonne fell in love because they are real soulmates not soley out of circumstances. I believe that Rick loved Lori but they were not a soul bond. He mourned her deeply but I think it was because he was full of regrets about their relationship. As we saw season 1 they were having martial issues. I think Rick wants to know all of CRM secrets so he can destroy it from the inside and protect his family.

I also go the idea that the pharmakon reference depicts Rick as the cure for the CR (Civic Republic) represented by General Okafore, the poison for the CRM (civic republic military) represented by Beale. Thorne would represent the anxiety of people caught in the middle of the struggle forced to choose complacency or change.

Michonne should tell Rick about RJ. He needs something to motivate him to attempt to escape again.

I love how they choose a name that is not as well known. As opposed to a Rosa Parks or a Coretta Scott King.Also the alcohol Rick, Thorne and Jadis were drinking reminded me of the phrase "drinking the Kool-Aid" believing in the system. Lastly..the "Sister SIde Eye" was REAL in this episode. It was giving " Now What?.. and "Try me and see". I was here for it. I love how it was mainly aimed at her husband. Fiction imitating real life.😆

If you are following the idea of Rick killing Shane as symbolism here then it would likely be Michonne that kills Thorne.

Michonee was BIG MAD at her husband!! I don't blame her, he's not giving her all the info, KNOWING how smart she is and he's acting a fool. I loved how she didn't say a single word but read him with her face - he knew what was up; she is standing on business, for real. Jaundice is thirsty AF, but she's not getting that Rick Stick, and Thorne isn't as strong as she thinks she is. I want to know WHY Rick decided not to wash and find some clothes in episode 4.....

Last Christmas I bought the whole compendium, and read them all 4 in like a week. (I'm a teacher, and I had Christmas break) I remember feeling so empty, and I felt like no spin-off and even the show didn't do the comic book justice. But man, this new spin-off has me hooked!

This is the closest thing we hardcore fans have to Talking Dead. I would love if Ryan could have a chat with Chris Hardwick about this series

does the crm now allow families? if Rick is strong enough with enough potential to be kept alive after 5 escape attempts then shouldn’t he be able to barter that into “hey boss i know I’ve tried to escape but it’s just because i love my family. She miraculously saved me let her join our cause and let us bring the kids and save the world” …. Maybe I’m thinking too into it

If they are trying to wrap this up in three more episodes then yea conveniently the leadership will be at the outpost where Oakafor told Rick he will know when to draw his Sword so to speak. After all it was Oakafor’s plan to have Rick move up in rank to be in the position needed to change the CRM. Rick killing the leadership for the greater good mirrors Oakafor bombing the marines and his wife to save Philadelphia.🤷🏻‍♂️

I'll never forget the first episode of The Walking Dead. Remember when Rick wakes up and sees all the helicopters? I pray at the end of this that he and Michonne are together. A couple of more Easter Eggs. Below ground there was a sign Spring Garden, that is a subway stop in Philadelphia. The American Revolutionary Museum is also in Philadelphia and their showcase piece is George Washington's tent. The square Rick and Jadis are at looks very similar to Rittenhouse Square. Good catch on Fitler Square which was already mentioned in the video.

I don't get why Rick was such a big catch, why Jadis didn't have to do consignment. What makes Rick so special, that they made a deal with her and they clearly can see Rick is a A, when he's not broken.

Rick wasn't a big catch. It sounded like Rick was the last person in a set Jadis needed ie "When you give us 30 people you can join our community and for each 5 we will send a box of resources" and Rick had Jadis hit her number. When Rick was brought back to health he was clearly an A and it was Okafor that kept him alive. Jadis has just made comments about bringing in a very important person in the past and we have assumed it was Rick and she made those comments to other people to show her superiority and explain how she moved up the chain of command so fast.

"People are resources". "A"'s like Rick are high value because of their initiative and leadership skills. CRM is playing a long (500 years) game and in their minds, leaders like Rick are essential to that plan. It's not just CRM, most people in TWD are traumatized and living in constant fear. The few individuals who manage to overcome and adapt with management skills are high value assets amongst any surviving community in that world because of the stability they appear to provide. That's why Negan, Virginia, even Victor were able to build thriving communities despite their..."shortcomings"..but people like them are few and far between in TWD and the few who are in that position can be overwhelmed and need help from others they deem on "same level" who they can trust/respect. That's why the lady who ran the caravan from last episode was so desperate to recruit Michonne.

Rick does give up he's been broken multiple times. The Governor broke him. Negan really broke him. Now he's been broken by the CRM. He said there's nothing between him and Michonne to get her to leave. To save his family.

@@noturmum7967: TWD Season 1 Episode 5 "Wildfire." It's 25:21 in. It's after the "Vatos" episode when the group that stayed back at the camp was attacked by walkers.

Imagine if Rick ends up killing Thorne, ending his allegiance to the CRM and moving on to protect his family which is what really matters to him, mirroring how he killed his best friend Shane, and coming full circle.

episode is great and all but i can't help but wonder how this'll affect rick and the crm's suspicion of Rick with michonne pulling him out of the crm helicopter whilst others on it lives. How will rick explain himself and her and or will this be the start of their escape. They have so many great options moving forward from this episode which makes this episode even better and raises the anticipation for the coming episodes

I think Rick is the key to cure and you know why? Cause he was in a acoma when the virus hit. Rick isn’t infected cause he was in this dead state already. He’s the only surviving person who was lucky enough to be in a coma when the virus hit, which makes him immune and the walking dead is the story of how he survived to the present and ends up saving the Whole world, everybody under him are the survivors

I haven't watched TWD since S10, I just couldn't get through it. Would this and the future projects be worth catching up for? Like how good is this really in comparison to S5?

It's better writing they've had in a LONG time! Finish TWD Watch World Beyond for CRM context that ISN'T in TOWL Then watch TOWL. The others are for rainy days, lol (so far)

with all the detail and research in these breakdowns, i would expect the name Okafor to be pronounced properly lol

The whole thing with Aaron could also be tying in the fact that the actor for Aaron was originally casted to be Rick until Andrew Lincoln auditioned

Great episode on so many levels the acting is superb the writing is great TWD IS BACK!

*HERE'S WHAT I WANT TO UNDERSTAND..... CAN SOMEONE PLEASE (FOR THE LOVE OF GAWD)* explain to me why the CRM chooses to get rid of just about everyone that knows their secret bur Jadis gets to carry on? Like I understand she made a deal with them or whatever trading A's and B's but like what made her so special to begin with in the first place? Why is she allowed and yet it doesn't seem like they've made similar deals with other people? It doesn't make sense. And on that note, why do they drop gas on Innocent people who don't even know who they are like in episode 2? What's the point of that? None of it makes any sense. I really like the show other than the things I just mentioned. I NEED answers? Anyone got some? Or the very least, some theories?!

Well, it seems that being with the Trash People in TWD, trading A's and B's was Jadis' probation period to see if she would be of use. She had to keep the CRM secret while scouting for them, therefore they "allowed" her to live. Then she went up the ranks in the CRM military because she gave them Rick. Who knows if that's right, or I can be completely off track. And about the gas, that's one thing I'm also wondering about. Do they not want to be discovered by civilians they don't scout? Whether it's because they don't have enough resources to feed more people? Or they could be killing any large groups to turn them into Walkers and use them as fuel. Don't know if it was mentioned in a behind for this show or another TWDU show, but I remember it being mentioned that Walkers were used as fuel. They're not definitive answers, but that's what I've got.

I don't think Thorne wants rick she just doesn't want anyone screwing up her new rank. Rick isn't interested in Thorne either. There's no way Rick would kill Michonne

Rick does have the best side eye’s ever! Good point on why Thorne would want to get rid of Michonne. I assumed Thorne love him by now, but I guess friendship can be as strong. I say this because it would’ve only made sense for Thorne and Rick to hook up after so much time away. I love me some drama! His attempted breakup killed me. I know it was to get her to be mad but she knew better. Totally think Rick could see the greater good and he is the key.
