Disaster management my foot. Private towing companies should have been called to at least clear the road and put the vehicles on the side. The disaster committee whilst being a disaster and poor decision making body cannot think further than using poor policemen to manually clear the way.

If class 3 has been declared this morning such chaotic situation would have been avoided!!! 😢

Besides this natural disaster politicians from both sides and some unqualified critics are another disaster for this countery.Mauritians are best at playing blame games, some even seeing this as an opportunity for swearing on the social media on some live channels and even using hateful and communal language. Shame on all of us.

I can’t imagine what the people have gone through . All vehicles are written off. If a company would have been paid to stack all vehicles like they are. There is no way they would have the means to do it but Mother Nature was fierce and what an incredible sad sight. My heart goes out to all at home. Am permanently living in Australia. I hope the government is doing their best.

This shows amateurism...learn from our friends from Reunion island who had the guts toconfine all people hence no chaotic scenes...in Mauritius, those professionals removed class 1 for torential rain, then moved from class 2 to 3 within hours, leaving all denizen to themselves...bravo..

True, why the public was not informed before that to take precautions, why the work places was informed or given one day holiday. Lose to the families cannot be filled up. Our sympathies to all the families going through, may Allah protect them and help them.

Most of these cars are insurance write off .There will be plenty of affordable spare parts in Mauritius.Those flooded cars will never be the same again and all the perfume of Arabia won’t get rid of the stench

I am reading the comments and see how some people are saying we dumb What people don't understand is that it's not the community at fault, the meteo service fuck up here really bad fuck up They didn't change the cyclone class Normally at class 3 people don't go to work but unfortunately due to the lack of incompetence of the meteorological department, many people went to work And when this happens it was around 10 am they put a class 2 warning Not even 1 hour goes by and they see the fuck up and put the cyclone class warning to 3 This caused panic and everyone was trying to get to there home safely, unfortunately due to the lack of communication Many incident happened and some lost there life People were stuck in traffic for more that 3 hr and to make matters worst the water level started to increase and many car got stuck on the highway Yesterday 15 JANUARY 2024 was a disaster that could have been avoided I hope the government take action against them.
