After finishing my part-time lecture at the University of Gastronomic Sciences,
I spent the weekend in the middle of the vineyards.

After that, we went to a small town called Piozzo.
Piozzo is the home of BALADIN, a pioneer of Italian craft beer.

Founder Theo started craft beer brewing in the heart of the Langhe region, the holy land of winemaking.
Everyone told him he must have gone crazy.
I think the DNA of just making good things is instilled in him, whether it's winemaking or beer.

Shodoshima was entrusted with the new barrels of Yamaroku Soy Sauce's Wooden Barrel Craftsman Revival Project during the 2015 Milan Expo.
Moved by Yamaroku Soy Sauce's passionate desire to "convey the dignity of Japanese cuisine," and overlapping with my own long-held desire to convey the artisanal culture of food, a treasure of Japan, I held an exhibition called SLOW WOOD FOOD with the wooden barrels that Yamamoto sent me.

Theo immediately understood the wooden barrel craftsman project, and we began working together.

    バールでバラディンの歴史についてレクチャーを受けた後、テオさんの車でご子息と一緒に工場へ連れてってもらったのは記憶が正しければ2017年のこと。同年インポーターさんの招聘で来日されました。Piozzoがグランボッリートミストで有名なVascello d'OroのあるCarrùのすぐ近くだと気付いたのは帰国してからでした。懐かしい思いで拝見させていただきました。

    バラディン・アンバサダーのチンさんと共通の友人がいて、そのご縁で訪問しました。 Carrùも「最後はなぜかうまくいくイタリア人」を上梓された宮嶋勲さんとのご縁があっての訪問でした。どちらもちょっとでも共通の知人友人がいるとまったく接し方が違うイタリアのコネ社会を垣間見たものです。 最近イタリアから帰国した連中はみな、何でもコロナ前の3倍だよと言ってます。なかなか行けそうもないので次回の動画アップを楽しみにしています!
