'Walk The Earth' | Woman returns home after a 7-year walk around the Earth

Спорт

Angela Maxwell of Bend decided to go on a little walk in May 2014. And, well, she kind of hasn’t stopped.
Now after spending nearly seven years walking around the Earth raising money for at-risk youth programs, Maxwell will return home to Bend, Oregon this weekend.
Central Oregon Daily’s Eric Lindstrom caught up with her recently to find out more about this incredible journey.

I can't say I can describe what it feels like to see your soulmate in a video and know you will never meet them. For 10 years now I planned out a walk around the world for charity. I just can't tear myself away now having a son. Maybe a little later in life.

Angela, One word stands out in your remarks in this video as i am discovering you for the first time in this hour. At this moment i am uncertain if you are still walking or not. I have only seen the first three and one half minutes of this video and i had to stop and comment about your choice of words and your stated mission. The word occurs at that point is "vulnerable". I had to stop the video and reflect. My thought was: "is this a paradox, or irony that a woman who is championing the cause of helping girls and women to heal from the residual effects of having been harmed in some way by their life experiences would intentionally put herself in harms way?" It is possible that others have posed this same question to you. Not the question of "why are you doing this?" but the question of the if or if not you see the irony that i see...and applaud?" i see that your apparent fearlessness in the face of dangers that have not manifested in your walk is nonetheless exemplary for those who feel crushed or broken by experiences that have actually manifested in their lives. It forces me to see that your value to them is about how to view the possibilities of their future in spite of or transcendent of their past. You are amazing. If you are one to "consider the source" of comments you can get an idea of where my comment comes from at my channel almadeusstar. I wonder what is next for you?

Turning to Jesus Christ, God come in the flesh, and trusting Him as your Saviour is the only way your soul will be spiritually safe for eternity. Faith in Jesus brings a renewed life, one secure in His love and promises. His is the only life path which will bring true and lasting fulfilment, peace and joy. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16). “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” (Acts 3:19)

So to overcome my trauma, I walk in a city park at night trying to overcome my fear and get raped, I am courageous and a hero like this woman I guess? She puts down every traumatized victim who is just glad to be safe in their own home if they have one and at shame for not taking the stupid risk she took? Wow!

This is not female empowerment. This is a put down of every traumatized woman who will never be able to do such things because she will never overcome her fear. We exist. And I cannot see anything courageous here just unneccessary risks that had been taken willingly in a world that is not made for women or children.

Seriously, how far up your ass are you living? Let's say that does happen to someone, what your saying, the solution to dealing with that is staying cooped up home all of your life with clinical depression out of fear and not even trying to figure it out how to keep living. I didn't think about woman empowering here i saw a human being who lives how she want's, inspiring humans in general, yes it is a dangerous world, but if we live like you said, we would still be in stone age.

You doubling down, repeating your negativity here in the Comments thread, do not discourage those who derive lessons from this remarkable woman. There is counselling available to you; seek out a wise woman skilled in the healing arts to set you on your own inner journey of self realisation. There is no benefit to you, or others in projecting your current viewpoint. You will remain trapped inside your perspective of _the world as a dangerous place,_ yet have little impact on others who are reaching their full potential.
