I do agree that your style of editing videos is highly entertaining. I do prefer this to the polished crap we get from a lot of channels. Not sure who said it first, but the fact is that the equipment you have, the software (and software skills) you have are nothing if you can't tell a story. And you sir can tell and edit a story very well.

Damn fine video -- "I'm cheap, and I'm lazy" "I made this out of metal. I made this out of rusty metal. I made this out of rusty, old metal." "I don't really measure..." "The number one reason why I don't have a winch, is I never need it" ----- Proceeds to engineer the most bad-ass recovery rig to ever hit the dirt that can recover rigs that are 10x it's own weight and stuck with the force of the gods... Reminds me of a quote -- "With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine." -- Tie the rope to the pig in the mud, yank that sucker out. Keep on posting great videos my man.

Also, I spent the better part of 20 years as a full time and also part time wrecker operator. I have a new career now, but I still love the job.... From Race Rescue at Watkins Glen back in the days when it was still fun, to 50-ton HD wreckers roaming the deep south, I spent a lot of time crawling under and around things stuck where they ought not be. My appreciation for your banana jeep and your skill is sincere. If you get a chance before my order ships out, I'd be honored with your autograph on my hat -- and Ed's too... Have an awesome Christmas day, and hope you aren't working too much today. Aaron "Cujo" Cooley Atlanta, Ga.

I thought knew something about cars and after seeing this build, I realize how little I really know and that you're a genius. I love how you buzz up to a recovery job in this wagon and people ask if you are actually going to be able to recover them in this Jeep and zip-presto they are out. I also love how many times you just get into their vehicles and drive it out and then turn it back over to them without even hooking it up to the Jeep. My Father -in-law used to say "Science and skill will triumph over ignorance and superstition." You prove that every day.

My dad and I started building Rail Buggies when I was a kid. I definitely understand your building techniques. I knew the Yellow Banana had to be beefed up in certain areas from owning and wheeling XJ's. Still the abuse it takes is incredible, when you think of it in mechanical terms. Those little 4.0 engines are tough. They don't take overheating well though (none do really). Great job on your explanation of the mods to the Banana. Thanks! Oh, and how do you give this a thumbs down? Keep on enjoying life with your family and friends!

Although my dad had a 1999 jeep Cherokee chase modle with the inline 6 4.0 and it over heated 4 times to wear it shit its self off and between 150000 and 200000 miles and still ran at 230000 miles when the frame rotted and broke so I would say they are pretty resilient although it did use one quart of oil every 200 miles or one quart per tank of fuel

Figured out how to steal Matt’s ideas: be around cars for decades, have the natural gifting and passion to engineer and fabricate using pieces from any car or piece of steel, have dozens of years experience in the sand, have a network of truly gifted friends who you can bounce ideas off of and swap parts and designs with, have an incredible family that supports me, have a fully rigged out brick and mortar with an incredibly skilled staff, and have the resources to make it happen. I am there.

When Matt says he's lazy what he really means is that he like to figure out a solution that will allow him to do more work with less effort. He's got the fabrication skills and the experience to do the custom modifications he needs to make it all work. Once you've built the right tool for the job the work is easier but thats working smarter, not harder. Great video and thanks for sharing.

Keep going, Matt. I really like your style. Some vloggers talk too much. Your words all count. maybe teach us more about your gear and how you use it - kinetic rope, v-chains, j hooks. Strength rating? Where do you attach to stuck vehicle? Etc. I like learning your recovery strategy in each case, etc. Thanks for what you do.

From this vid, and my getting a sense of Matt (he's like me lifetime of experience)..you just know what works. Your not certified in this/that/or other thing....you just DO. It's hard to get a guy like that to "instruct" you on how stuff works ...it would carry a liability...especially if done in/on a public forum for general consumption. YMMV

I really like seeing how there are people that would rather build something rather than buy it made. I love fabricating stuff and I understand what you mean about how you dont measure but just put it where it needs to be and then weld it in. Im a welder/fitter and to me its just metal and can be cut and rewelded or melted down and recast into something useful.
