Konkona as Aisha, The film shows her taking off on solitary rambles, exploring Mumbai on her own. She is unapologetic - frankly telling Sid to his face that she cannot see herself being with someone as immature and childish as him and that it is better they remain friends. Its refreshing to see women like her on screen who is real and at the same time accepting the fact that yet she is imperfect....

This is the best Mumbai (Bombay) movie in the past decade. ❤️ Also RK's first of many "coming of age" movies.

This is Ranbir's favourite movie, and we can now understand why. Such a gem of a film, and probably Ayan Mukherjee's best work.

FYI - the song IKTARA sung in the movie by Kavita Seth and Amit Trivedi is song of the millennium. I am sure people born in between 1990 to 1999 could relate this as how beautiful and pleasant this song still feels today when you listen at the beach, or at Marine Drive (where the starcast shoot the scene for this song). This movie almost brought a major nostalgia. Thank you

Am I the only one crying in the climax? I know it's not so emotional but i got too many memories with this film and that time. Even I thought I'd end up like sid Or aisha. This film taught me how to dream. Of course none of it came true but this film filled me with so much hope and i remember how it made me feel. A beautiful film with great repeat value also if I may say, Ayan mukerji's best work till date. I don't think ayan can ever come back to this level of innocence and simplicity. Aaj kal zindagi is still my morning song. Just love it.

You know the exact moment Sid realises he's in love with Aisha...when he puts on her white kurta. That subtle but so powerful change of expression as he looks at himself in the mirror...Ranbir proved his acting prowess with that one shot alone.

This is a feel good movie with a bit of emotions. And the song "Iktara" is one of my favourite. Supriya Pathak, Anupam Kher, Ranbir and Konkona...all of them were brilliant in this movie.

Omg that look on syntell's face😂😂😂love that....and this movie is close to the youth's heart here in India,so simple yet so strong. Wus life changing movie and yzhd is friends dream(ranbir starrer movie).

Another very important point to add is that this movie captures a very nuanced perspective of Mumbai.. which is very often portrayed as slums in MANY other movies. Mumbai is a mix of both, and this is a refreshing picture of it specially with rains.

Konkana sen sharma absolutely nailed the character.. loved it back then ..still love it 🥰

Wake up Sid and yeh Jawaani hai deewani. These 2 movies will always remain closest in my heart . Wake up Sid gave me courage to come out of my comfort zone and do work hard and yjhd have me hope and makes me feel good and positive ❤️ The AYANISM ❤️

Hey guys, you got it wrong. Sid was not trying to be in love with Ayesha untill in the last he reads that magzine. He didn't realise that love until the end of the movie

Out of ranbir and Ranveer I’ve always preferred ranbir films more.. I loved RK older films the coming of age story like YJHD Wake up Sid which is my fav Liked Rocket Singh I know a lot of people didn’t like it but I also enjoyed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Also don’t forget Sanju, Barfi, rockstar He has a good all round portfolio of good films

@@vishnu.bharadwaj Like many of Imtiaz's films, Rockstar is relateable but there's absolutely no subtlety in the storytelling. In that sense, it's overrated, because it's not as deep as some people make it seem. Ranbir is great as the deeply flawed Jordan, but in retrospect has become typecasted in these coming-of-age dramas. Nargis is given nothing to work with in this movie, and only serves to progress Ranbir's story. Outside of Jab We Met and Highway, Imtiaz can't seem to write good female characters. A.R. Rahman's soundtrack is genuinely fantastic, though.

Let's take out some time to appreciate the DOP and cinematographer who have beautifully captured the spirit of Bombay for which it is famous!

Wake up Sid is one of my all time favourite movies. Also ever since I had seen Wake up Sid I have always wanted to go to Mumbai. The sea facing houses, Marine drive, Bandra fort etc.

Ayan Mukherjee is genius in making films about life,love and subtle emotions. That's why he trembled in Brahmastra, hope he comes back stronger

Do tamasha next, since Syntell basically thought that's how the movie would go !

Honestly I got my first internship in writing something like what happened in Wake up Sid, and now I have been working happily in the field.

That guy (chotu) isn't his brother but house help.

You wanna see Mumbai monsoon, the last scene is the go to. Growing up there and now living in Delhi where monsoon isn’t so great. Iktaara hits different. Every time I would go senti and smiling.

Poor steph, couldnt understand in this whole movie that chohtu was not ranbir little bro but his house help, his servant. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

It's Iktara (not ik tara) - single string instrument

We Indian calls our house help ( servants ) as brother or sister.. Doesn’t mean that they are real brother or sisters..

Anything with Syntell and Steph is great but this one is a really special movie ❤

I think adolescence is all about half way between childhood and adulthood.. Like a ship leaving the bay and hitting the open waters for the first time. You never know what to expect when you hit the open world after spending 20 years (at the very least...0-3 years growing up, 12 years in school, and 5 years in college/university); living with your parents and under their care/nurturing/guidance/roof.
