I haven't seen the musical but thought it was weird when they were promoting it they didn't mention the movie at all. There was no "Based on the movie written by Adrienne Shelly. " This beloved lovely movie was written and directed by her and ghey didn't even give her any credit - at least in the marketing. Thry honestly made it sound like sara barellis wrote it - she was credited as the writer in all the marketing I saw. ( I kmow she wrote the songs for tge musical, but the movie already had a few songs in it that were written by Adrienne ). That never sat well with me so I'm not really interested in seeing its musical version

She really was someone special. I just watched Trust for the first time, and I've never seen a screen presence quite like hers before. Her charm, intelligence, inquisitiveness, and lack of pretension are just something to behold. And she was ridiculously stunning to boot. RIP Adrienne!

This was her directiorial debut and it felt like she was already good at what she does. Man, I wish we could've seen more of her movies. Sad that she died too early

This was the first movie I have seen in which I could really see and understand domestic abuse and violence. Absolutely scary. Her struggle was very well depicted how hard it is to get out of such an abusive relationship/marriage, how many hurdles it has.

Sorry but I'm currently obsessed with the musical and I can't help but to make this: 0:10 - Pomatter's Pie 0:15 - Club Knocked Up 0:22 - Opening Up 0:25 - What Baking Can Do 0:27 - A Soft Place to Land 1:05 - It Only Takes a Taste 1:21 - You Matter to Me (they literally uttered the lyrics haha) 1:38 - Never Ever Getting Rid of Me 2:05 - Take It from an Old Man 2:08 - The Negative 2:13 - Bad Idea Hahahaha I had fun spotting these moments. Sara Bareilles truly is a genius for making those songs! 😍

If you are ever able to see the musical see it or listen to the soundtrack. The story is so well suited to be a musical and all the music was written by Sara Bareilles

One of my very favorite movies. Adrienne wrote a beautiful movie , & everyone was so good, especially her. So sad to hear of her death. RIP Adrienne. 💕

It's so sad that such a beautiful, talented soul, would be taken away by some sick dude. Rest in peace Shelly. Bittersweet as it is, your hard work for this film had clearly been paid off.

I love how they were able to tell a uplifting and moving story while at the same time focusing on domestic abuse.

I love this film and when I found the musical I was so happy, this film is great, it deserved a musical.

Bravo, Adrienne. Thank you for leaving us with this masterpiece. So sad you left us too soon. You were a gift.

AMAZING feel good movie !! I was Pleasantly Surprised !! Life s Lesson Start Fresh !! ! of my FAVORITE movie !! You will not be disappointed !! Blessed 2023 to all the viewers !!

Fun fact! The gentleman who plays dawn’s partner here in the movie is also a part of one of the Waitress casts in broadway!

I own this movie - I was so in love with it when I saw it - and I just rewatched it recently. Precious movie.

A decade before seeing the musical, this movie was part of my 8th grade romcom phase.

One of my favourite rom coms because it’s actually funny and has a lot of heart! But always so bittersweet watching it because of Adrienne

I absolutely love this movie - watched it a thousand times and this not a movie that I would have ever watched but luckily I watched it one day when I left the channel on and was hooked - so great.

RIP Adrienne Shelley. Was listening to "She Used To Be Mine" and researched the origins of the story. Very sad way to go, thinking of her family.

I've never actually watched this film and I didn't realize how much they took for the musical. I mean, I knew the musical was based on the movie, but I didn't think it was word-for-word. "I could find the whole meaning of life in those sad eyes" is an actual line from the film and Sara turned it into a beautiful song lyric. It's amazing because this works so well as a musical, you'd think that's how it started.

Keri Russell's forever Oscar nomination that never came role! Absolutely loved this and I got it - even as a kid!

Seeing the musical will be amazing R.I.P Adrienne Shelly best film ever

Idk if you meant you liked how he returned to the role on Broadway or not but just in case anyone thought they casted someone who looked identical to Ogie for the stage adaptation, Eddie Jemison did return to the role of Ogie on Broadway in 2019.
