@@ericmoberg7679 There's really two options here : most likely your opponent does NOT blunder and destroy you ruthlessly, and you just wasted their time. But in the outstandingly rare chance that mistake do occurs(and you didn't make it), does it prove anything? Remember that there's time increment here, and you're resigining a game where not only you are in a lost position, but also down a full minute on the clock. Black's plan is ridiculously simple : get a queen and checkmate White with no counterplay whatsoever. Stalemate? Not going to happen. This endgame has been fought countless time before and Black got a time advantage with increments. Plus, it is considered disrespectful to NOT resign after you're in such an obviously lost position. Stockfish 16, at depth 62 even evaluated the position before c4 as M15, as in Black has forced checkmate in 16 moves.

Both sides knew what was coming. He resigned as a sign of respect, and even Anish opponent doesn't mind it, is it worth fighting a losing battle? You're not just wasting their time, you're wasting your own. Probably better to resign and start a new game. At least it wouldn't just be you shuffling the king mindlessly.

I'm pretty sure both of them know Anish is winning long time before this clip even starts. I'm like 1500 strength and I can tell from the initial position in like 2 seconds. Even if he just takes the exchange and plays the queen endgame, black has the first move and a check on either e2, e5 or the g file if white takes with the king, and black is up a pawn already. There is no way he doesn't win. White is obviously fucked no matter what line they even enter.

As a 1600 rated player, I too would resign if I was White. No use in fighting a hopeless match, and unlike some other people here, I'm not going to hope that my opponent blundered. I've been conditioned not to rely on my opponent making mistakes, and it had made me grow stronger. I'm sure the same sentiment is shared by many other intermediates and even to the master level.
