I think you could be wrong about sleepy resident. It could be very very good in slow control or reno decks. Imagine your opponent has full board of 8\8 or whatever and you have this taunt. Without silencing or removing it in other way it will block attack of all opponent minions for entire turn. Opponent couldn't attack your hero, his board can't trade into yours. It's definitely something worth.

Yeah it falls into the commonly broken hearthstone style of card I like to call “fake ramp”. The type of cards I’d consider fake ramp is stuff like frost nova, cloak of shadows, ice block, and the shaman elemental that freezes everything. Just cards that stuff almost everything minion-based for a turn and fill in the gaps to your hard boardclears for a turn. The weakest part of this card is that it’s not guaranteed to go off like most of the others but it can still stall hard when it does go off. Cards that stop the game and essentially allow you to progress to the next turn and draw a new card and gain a new mana crystal are fake ramp.

@@imaforceanature7297 it also ramps your opponent + they get to play both turns. opponent might not do face damage but still they develop board, generate value, draw cards, etc. card is terrible imo

@@dasdasdiamlasdasdsada9717I just saw it as a frost nova. It had its uses. I don’t think the card is bad and has potential depending on the meta and other cards. By your logic frost nova is a terrible card but it was seen in meta decks for delaying the enemy board into clearing the board or more stall like blizzard while looking for their win condition

@@tarille1043 If you give Pile of Bones' Deathrattle to the Amalgam, it will summon a 1/2 Adaptive Amalgam without enchantments the next time you Excavate, like when you cast Desperate Stand on Immortal Prelate, it summons as a 1/1 Prelate without enchantments. But I am sure there will be a lot of ways to make it infinite, especially in Wild. One way I can think of right now is to give the Amalgam Taunt with Stockades Guard and then use Death Growl to give it Valstann Staghelm"s Deathrattle.

@@alexina4567 Buffs are enchantments. Any stat increase/decrease, keywords or any other effects you can give to a minion are enchantments.

Its much more interactable than nova, but yeah it is better than zeddy sells it here imo, you could also probably use it with other when awaken payoff to profit.

Idk how it doesnt go in reno decks. What agro deck has silence to kill it. Its going to be frost nova that maybe kills a minion as it goes off.

Guys remember boogie down, i think the amalgam will slot in really well in paladin

There was ONE minion that used the term "fall asleep". It was an ogre from _I think_ Uldum, where it had a 50% chance to fall asleep at the start of your turn.

I like the meta idea of cards knowing that they're in a card game like Elise, Trail Guide and Resort Valet and reacting to that

im pretty sure this just breaks naga dh, because they give it rush for free and it keeps dying to keep fueling the deck, so you only run out when you run out of spells

Resort Valet might actually be a good way to get past paywall event quests 👀

Another 1 cost naga far naga DH, it even shuffles back into the deck to draw it again with sharpshooter

Sleepy Resident is basically a deathrattle frost nova, might be decent in control decks

Reska + Adaptive Amalgam + Death Growl seems like a pretty powerful combo to me. For 2 mana, you give Reska the ability to put itself back into your deck when it dies, and since Death Growl giving Reska the deathrattle is an enchantment, Reska will keep it when you play her again.

That whale can be used with the thunderbringer so you get a very big shield

One more thing about the Amalgam. It is a pirate. You can give a pirate windfury. AAAAAAND Handbuffpaladin exists. And since it is a 1 cost you can boogie it out. :D

Adaptive Amalgam is the best thing that happened in a while, at least for me. I've been so stumped that prelate was Paladin only, but now Undatakah is for every class to enjoy. So Shudderwock undatakah is possible now, or Death Growl DK Undatakah. Gonna be insanely incredibly fun

If that AFK Deck is a real thing then Cryopractor might fit in it.

In Wild, Beached Whale has health/attack swapping shenanigans. Could be a menace in priest decks that repeatedly revive it with Inner Fire as well. Yeah it's slow, but it'll work as a meme.

Adaptive Amalgam is basically just a better Immortal Prelate from Rastakhan's Rumble. Mainly because it costs one less, but also because its entirely generic and has the benefit of being counted as *All* minion types

The 3/5 Taunt that buys you a turn has significant synergies with Wheellock. Don‘t write it off with 1 Star.

Cryopractor and Living Dragonbreath... get the buff without the freeze. Alternatively, this could buff a minion to allow a priest to use Shadow Word: Death or something similar on it. Sleepy Resident looks to be a counter to Timewinder Zarimi or charge OTK decks. Beached Whale in Timewinder Zarimi deck... then you use heal spells to heal the Whale, Divine Spirit, and either Topsy Turvy or Inner Fire. Adaptive Amalgam... they power-crept Immortal Prelate and gave it to everyone.

Might just be me but I think the Sleepy card actually has some merit and could see play in some highlander decks and stuff. It effectively buys you one entire turn's worth of potential face damage vs flood decks so you can stall for board wipes and whatnot.

sleepy resident is really good, its 4 mana 3/5 taunt which freezes (better than freeze, it cant be silenced) entire board

Worse than Freeze. Freeze will stop a minion until it misses a chance to attack (Meaning whatever attacks and kills this minion would have to miss its next turn)

Cryopractor + AFK + totems probably still probably sucks, but I see a nugget of an idea there.

I wouldn't count Adaptive Amalgam out entirely for Wild. It keeps Magnetics, Mech Paladin and Rogue are both close to relevancy there, both of those decks can draw like absolute madmen. I dunno if it quite makes the cut, but I'm giving it a shot for sure. For the record, I believe Undatakah should work, Immortal Prelate has the same effect as this Amalgam and that was a (janky) combo in the past.

I liked Cryostatis back in the day, it was good to throw on totems, especially the Taunt one. Also the sleepy resident reminds me of a Tavern Brawl card, Red Riding Hood, i think mechanically they're the same and that was annoying tbh.

Adaptive Amalgam seems good. It's probably not going to be meta, but I homebrew, and I love this kind of stuff

Hozen roughhouser is a 'whenever' trigger. Correct me if im wrong but it should buff it before it deals damage, while rokara buffed it after it attacked

Sleepy resident might be playable, unironically. Its quite cool to be honest. Good against Aggro

Celestial Alignment, Oaken Summons, Beached Whale. Resummon Beasts and Taunts= win.

Neutral Prelate? Every class can now do Undahtaker shenans! 10/5 stars in Wild just for pure crazy potential.

Honestly that amalgam seems like it has a lot of oppertunity to be rather scary in paladin and should definitely not be slept on

Cryopractor is a 3 mana 6/6. I dont think it's good but if youre already running a couple 1 drops or some smaller taunt minions i can see it making sense

Since this is the first time it happens, what will happen if you magnetize something to that amalgam? Will it get the magnezize keyword? Also if you magnetize the one legendary with echo, will the amalgam also have it?

It would keep the buffs given by magnetize not the keyword magnetize is my guess

Imagine if Blizzard will forget to update the code for Resort Valet when the next expansion hit.

I think cryopractor shouldn’t be compared to cryofreeze. The difference between paying 2 mana to freeze + 3/3 on a card alone and bumping that up 1 and gaining a 3/3 is very different. The rate on this card if you use it on like a shaman totem is pretty solid, especially since it will unfreeze and be available next turn. Stuff like gold panner on 2, cryopractor on 3 isn’t bad either. I think it’s worth it on a 1 attack or lower minion most of the time as a 3 mana 6/6 swing.

Wave pool thrasher just gave rogue the chance to wipe boards with bounce effects.

Sleepy resident would have been legit in Reno gadgetzan days, weak af now tho

Terrible chef has ridiculous synergy with the deathrattle spread unholy card. It sets up one of the adjacent minions as itself so if you’ve got like 1 minion sticking turn 5 you play this + spread nerubian deathrattle and that’s insanely hard to deal with.

Terrible Chef might be good in aggro. Maybe a token Druid deck with whatever unfair board buff they get this year 🤔

I think the Amalgam will be very good. Just think cheap pally/priest buffs

Yep you're wrong about resident sleeper that will see a lot of play. It's perfect against decks that summon big boards.

Well on wild we have a card for druid that draw a beast and double his healt, that whale can have 40 healph wow

Hozen says whenever not after. So even better than Rokara

The sleep card is good it helps slow decks

adaptive amalgam they have been building toward for so long now... wow. there were cards last season being released that didnt make sense, because most of the amalgams were rotating. like OAB for instance, it does fine with the meta rn, but it isnt really playable the way that it was when you had amalgams in the deck too, to guarantee another tick up for it.
