When I was a kid I always figured Darkwing Duck took place some time after Ducktales where Scrooge was no longer traveling as much due to age and Launchpad had improved his piloting skills.

Usually Fenton didn’t appear in Darkwing, just Gizmo Duck. But in one episode he does appear and Launchpad introduces him as his friend from Duckberg

Jeff Bennett Darkwing Duck was based of this Spider Master of men... it’s almost a complete carbon copy. Just like Talespin was a complete copy of Tales of the Gold Monkey

Darkwing duck and ducktales are the same universe. If not explain the cross over between Darkwing and Gizmo Duck and all the villains and heroes between Saint Canard and Duck burg

The type of humor sets them apart. Duck tales didn’t have the slapstick bugs bunny/Daffy Duck humor that Darkwing Duck had so I’d say it’s a parallel universe

When there are continuity errors or disparities, then the stories happen in different universes. Why do you think DC is a multi-multiverse? Saint Canard might have been Duckburg's parallel in that universe, just like Keystone was Central's between Earths One and Two. On Earth-One there was a Clark Kent and a Bruce Wayne, but there was no Jay Garrick, in DWD there was a Launchpad and Gizmo Duck, but not a Scrooge McDuck. Is that simple, It's even simplier when you just accept they are just cartoons. Besides, wouldn't it be sad to know that sometime around 1989, Scrooge McDuck fired Launchpad? He was like family, McDuck wouldn't have taken so much from him if he wouldn't have considered Launchpad like so.

I met Jim Cummings a couple days ago and had him sign my Darkwing figure that I also had signed by Tad Stones. That figure is now one of my most prized possessions. Both guys are crazy awesome and super easy to talk to.

@@joelmavity1467 Only in that we wanted villains to be introduced before they appeared in other episodes. We naturally thought of them in the order they were written/storyboarded. I feel for the crew of the new DuckTales, which is heavy in continuity and should be watched in order, when Disney+ listed the show in random order. Not production order, alphabetical order, airing order, just throw the episodes into the air and see where they land order. I've heard all but the first season has been straightened out.

I assume it began as a single universe maybe 2 points in time. then the refrences made them happen closer to the same time or contradictory. having it be a seperate universe allows all earlier and future refrences to work even if wrong. i figure season 1 definitly same verse, season 2/3 split verses so it can have its own continuity and refrences. Eating your cake and having it too.

I'm not a huge disney fan but I did watch some of the disney afternoon shows like gargoyles

Launchpad not only spoke about working for Mr. McDuck, but he also worked with Gearloose AND Gizmoduck in both series. And though he had distinctly less crashes, he DID crash quite often...and crashed multiple things. I just always assumed it was the fact that in the Duck Tales series everything he drove/flew was the old style controls that required a person to be in continual operation, but in Duckwing Duck the controls are largely auto-pilot with only needing Launchpad to monitor them.

With DuckTales succeeding, DW should be next. Rescue Rangers should go CGI on film, and the Gummy Bears should definitely reboot. It was so original and cool.

i don't know if i want them all redone. you say it was original and cool. if its remade its no longer original. i would rather get a sequel to darkwing, Old man Darkwing like batman beyond. Gosling as New Darkwing and a new kid duck following he like she did darkwing. and i would like something set in the gummi bear world but more like a sequel or a prequel.

You killed the video with that milk & cereal bit. I couldn't concentrate on the video because I was too distracted by how weird milk then cereal is & was too busy trying to contemplate why in the world anyone would want to do that. Why???!!! LOL for reals tho, great video. I loved the Duck back in the day, I still have my Kelloggs mail-in figures from 1992.

The lyric "Let's get dangerous, Darkwing Duck" was the best of the time. Still plays in my head. And my step mom in which I hate had a nightmare about DW when I was a rebellious teen. That was the funniest part for sure.

The new Ducktales show actually rewrites this and creates a new combined Duckverse. Combining Duck Tales, Tale Spin, Gummi Bears, and Darkwing Duck

I love all those old cartoons: Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Chip N Dales Rescue Rangers and Tale Spin. I grew up watching them and now I'm watching them all over again on Disney + with my children from 9-18 yrs of age.

I still think of it in the same canon, just in different times and places.

I love darkwing duck, such great memories from my childhood!

Yeah and Launchpad introduces Fenton as his good friend from Duckberg. A creator can be wrong about continuity. I think that’s the case here. I could be wrong but I sort of remember Mrs Beakley appearing in DW too.

I'm sure the Joker influence is there, what with the chattering false teeth etc. but he feels more like the Trickster anyway. Maybe it's just because Joker + lighter tone = Trickster, but that's just how he comes off to me. Might explain why he feels a bit like Harley too. She's also a little bit lighter than Joker.

When talking about famous voices on DarkWing you omitted the time Lorenzo Music, the OG Voice of Garfield, provided the voice of a spider. In That episode Darkwing also developed spider powers and grew 4 more arms!

I argue against the two being separate. Gizmo Duck appears in a few episodes and they mention that he is the hero from Duckberg. Darkwing even states that he "doesn't like that guy". So I'm all for them being in the same universe just occurred at different times. Launchpad got better at flying that's all. He still knows how to crash "safely".

Hardly anyone ever remembers Gummi Bears, and my favorite forgotten Disney princess.... Their human co-star, Calla. Darkwing is hardly forgotten. By the time I was watching TV... Both were in reruns, and one would disappear all together with the disappearance of Toon Disney.

The internet lies. There were no two Launchpad McQuacks back in the '90's. There are two Launchpad McQuacks NOW: Launchpad McQuack from the original DuckTales and the original Darkwing Duck and the rebooted version of Launchpad McQuack from the crappy DuckTales reboot.

... Eh. The reboot of DuckTales isn't totally crap. Granted, I think there's things the OG DuckTales does better, such as being more in line with the adventurous spirit of the Carl Barks classics. The OG DuckTales had plenty of Barksian, globe-trotting adventures whereas the reboot has a more jaded, meta approach to the adventures which at times... kind of sucks. But the reboot has more continuity and deeper dives into characters, which is neat. Plus, the new Mrs. Beakley is light years better than the OG Mrs. Beakley, who looked and felt like an anthropomorphisized version of Aunt B from The Andy Griffith Show. I think both shows have their pros and cons... though hands down I miss the color and character of the OG series. That version of Duckburg felt so inviting. The new Duckburg just feels gray... but then again, the robot's version of Duckburg looks similar to the backgrounds you'd see of Duckburg in a Don Rosa story.

Actual Fact: Dee Harvey is my Uncle from Memphis, Tennessee, he unfortunately passed away in the Month of December, December 1st in 2012 in North Hollywood, CA from his long time battle with diabetes, I love you Uncle Dee & I am proud to say that your voice is forever immortalized in/on my childhood favorite cartoon Darkwing Duck on Disney Plus. I totally still have my gas gun. I also have the Mask with his bill on it from Disney On Ice. I was obsessed with Darkwing back in the day, and I still love him. I was even him for hallowe'en one year!

I didn't even know it was 2 different Launchpad's, i thought they were the same one. I loved Darkwing Duck on tv and still listen to the theme song today as it's my favorite one. I'm still hoping for the live action movie that was being developed with practical suits, etc and done like Howard the Duck suit and Rocket mix.

i remember The Disney Afternoon show. it was being done in Calgary or we it Red Deer of Alberta. I do remember you can get the Club Card for the show and get some items and prizes from there contests at some of the time.

Launchpad was not the only character to appears in both Duck-Tales and Darkwing Duck, Gizmo Duck appeared in both shows as a recurring character.

But in Disney Adventure magazine they ran a series of crossover cartoons from these great series revolving around the evil Chaos god, Solego and the final episode, Darkwing Duck, indicated that Launchpad from Ducktales and Launchpad in Darkwing Duck were one and the same.

BUUUUUUT, this can never happen because you know...... But DW could also team with THE FLASH, FLASH has Reverse Flash and DW has Nega Duck.

Quackerjack is more like the Jokester (Arrow Villain) and Toyman (Superman), honestly. While the Joker / Harley do occasionally use rediculous devices, it is the cornerstone of Quackerjack, and likewise, it is the bread and butter of Toyman.

Count Duckula feels like he belongs in their universe

I've always found the "Why do some characters wear pants, and others not?" question a little silly for some reason. It's the fur, feathers in this case, their "Sensitives" are covered by fur or feathers usually in their world, ergo, pants are usually optional. It's kinda self-explanatory when you think about it.

Now that I think about it Ducktales takes place in Duckburg. Darkwing Duck takes place in Saint Canard. So maybe it's possible that Launch pad could be twins?

I respect the creators opinion. But yeah when I was younger I just thought Launchpad just left duckberg at some point and worked with Darkwing it was that point that made me watch in the first place. That and he looked like the shadow.

Epcot is great. Sure, it's a bit more adult (and arguably "less fun") than Magic Kingdom but it's got more rides now and I still enjoy going to other county pavilions.

Darkwing Duck was probably my favorite of the Disney Afternoon, but I loved almost all of the shows (wasn't a fan of Gummi Bears). And yes, you should go back to Epcot (at least wait until the current remodeling is done). It's WAY more fun as an adult than as a kid. I went when I was 11 and was kind of meh on it, but I've been 3 times in the last 3 years and it's my second-favorite park after Animal Kingdom.

Apparently the writer is insane. Gizmoduck is also from Duckburg. Launchpad also directly references Scrooge in the actual series of DWD. So being in an alternate universe is reaching at best and an outright lie at worst.

its impossible for there to be 2 duck universes. Gizmo Duck appeared in numerous episodes, and not to mention the origin of Gizmo Duck was created by Giro Gearloose, an inverter from Duckburgh. I theorize that Scrooge got fed up with Launchpad's crappy flying where he fired him. That or he was simply just living a double life and went off on an adventure that led him to stay and become DW's pilot and sidekick for thrills.

You do know that Disney has a mobile app game: Disney Heroes: Battle Mode. DW and Launchpad are in it along with a few villains from the show

Same universe... When Launchpad introduced Fenton he said they had worked for the same guy back in Duckburg.

Launchpad will always live in the same universe as Duck Tales and Darkwing Duck for me. But I always thought it like Launchpad left Scrooge McDuck to join Darkwing Duck, instead.

Fun to see how they will do the new reboot. Because they placed the new DW in the new DuckTales.

I loved the Disney afternoon cartoons 👍❤

Why do I remember a Ducktales and a Darkwing Duck crossover in the 90's ? Or is it just some Mandela affect thing lol

There was a disney adventures comic that had a Talespin/Ducktales/Darkwing Duck crossover about a mystic ruby..

Gizmoduck was in several episodes also Launchpad mentioned previously working for Scrooge McDuck on darkwing duck. The guy who sent that it's not connected doesn't no what he's talking about

I did the DD costume for Halloween as a kid.
