Wait For It and See What Happens to The Resin!
Hi Everyone. Experimenting with resin is something that I really enjoy doing. You really need to see what happens to the resin when I add the spray paint to it, wait for it, this blew my mind!

I just want to say, I absolutely LOVE that you get right into it - "it" being whatever you state in the title that you are going to show us. You don't make us wait for IT and I think you are just the bees knees for that!! Also I love your energy, sense of humor, etc. These came out great, who knew!! We've all been wondering 😆😘
I did a resin pour on a wood panel, sprayed spray paint over it and spritzed it with mineral spirit and the effects are super!
I love the effects of metallic spray paints in resin -- when layered with micas and/or pigments, the metallic will kind of float on the surface and adds so much depth and dimension. Mike at Stone Coat Countertops and Rhonda at RK3 Designs create absolutely gorgeous exotic stone/marble/granite designs, you should check out their YT channels if you haven't seen their work!
Well WOW seems we can put just about anything in resin! 💖💖💖👏👏👏🇦🇺
I was a bit worried when you used the flame on them so soon after adding in the spray paint, because of the possibility of flammable propellant still being around in enough quantity to catch fire and hurt you. I am glad to see you are not risking blowing yourself up too much :). Once again- PLEASE- have a piece of white card stock or something so we can really see the finished items! That blue is nice, but doesn't read well. And your hands aren't white, they are pinky-tan.

These tips/recommendations are fabulous!! Especially the white card stock vs. your skin as a background to show off the true beauty/true colors in the resin! Not only would it absolutely make the colors pop, but it would also make the viewers more likely be able to see what you see. As in see the authentic look, you know that look you, the one yourself is seeing in real life! If that makes sense lol idk how well I explained that but hey I tried my best to get my point across lol but other than that, awesome experiment thank you!! 😁

Fantastic Steve. Love it!!!
Wonderful learning experience for us all! Thank you Steve!! You are such a great teacher and mastermind! 😉
I must say I've definitely wondered thus myself. I have so much spray paint for tumblers and other projects that it would make coloring the epoxy easier but gotta admit was worried if there would be a reaction. Thank you Steve for doing what I was to much of a 🐔 💩 to do 🤣🤣🤣

I've never thought of using spray paint in resin. That can be such a cheap way to color your resin, considering how little you need and how many sprays are in a can! I'll have to give that a try!

@@gernblanston4956 it's new to me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's not like you dabble with resin, then when you get to the point where you consider yourself a resin artist that you automatically know every little thing about it 🙄
Oh wow those came out so rich and dark and vivid. Spraypaint is fantastic in resin. I'm so glad you tried this.
Hi Steve. I think that they're all really pretty; especially the one hour ones. As I see the pretty swirled patterns form, I talk to my screen and tell you to stop swirling, for they're just sooo pretty, but you keep swirling; (of course, since you can't hear me). Then when you demold them, and they all look great. Once again, your experiment was interesting and helpful. I probably won't do much of it though, for I'd have to go out and buy the spray, but it's just great to know.
Truth be told spray paint isn't much different from other paints outside application. You just need to be mindful of anything extra that is added to the paint base like oils or water that resin may not like if too much is added. Besides the colors looking a bit dull due to dilution of the pigment in the paint base, and now in resin, it acts the same as if you used raw pigment. Don't get me wrong, your videos are good. But I often have to question videos when people try 'experiments' with 'differing things to color resin' when the raw base, the pigment, is often the same across it all with the only thing different is what that pigment was mixed in for the chosen medium. Rather acrylic paint, oil paint, spray paint, car paint, resin. The pigment that colors it all is pretty much the same. There's one channel with a guy recording his custom paint jobs for cars at his shop, and yeah.. he uses the same brand of raw pigment I used for resin and just mix's it in the paint base designed for cars instead of... well yeah resin. It's almost as silly as that other channel with that man and lady doing a video on 'can resin pigments be used in paint?' like uh.. yes... yes it can... as that is how paint gets it's color. Theres no such thing as 'resin' pigment, outside some brands marketing products as such. It all comes from the same source rather used the raw minerals or artificially made in labs and factories. It's all the same, just differing base the pigment is mixed into, ya know... like paint. (theres lots of videos showing how differing paints are made) But then that is also the same channel where they wanted to test what UV resin is best... while using a plastic mold, an under powered UV flashlight not designed for uv resin curing, and also tried to cur for 30 secs instead of the bottles instructed 3-4 minutes. Then couldn't understand why the resin wasn't curing fully and why it was sticking to the mold. Fun fact: the most expensive pigment to produce is a synthetic known as DPP Orange and DPP Scarlet. 1kg of DPP Scarlet is almost $300 due to the production cost to make it and thats with it already mixed in a paint base. They are also colors that are 'counterfeited' a lot.
Thank you Steve for sharing how spray paints work with resin. I have a lot of spray paint because I use it in my refurbished items around my house. Sometimes I want a color that I can readily find in a spray paint but not in micro powder. Here’s an idea about a resin experiment - texture spray paint 🎨 n resin or even sprayed on top of a level of cured resin - then dried - then clear resin poured on top?! I think it would give cool affects. Like the antique cracked spray paint? They have pebbles, iridescent, and our favorites sparkle and glitter? There is this one sparkle paint at Walmart called Pink Champagne that I’m going to use on my vanity it is absolutely beautiful! Please try it out and drop me a line so I can see what happens!! Your the Best Steve❣️❣️❣️❣️
I have found that my favorite colour additive to my resin is acrylic paints! The metal is acrylics are absolutely brilliant! They turn out very similar to your little experiment here.
The next to the last heart almost looks like cracks thru the heart on the right side...awesome!
Awesome steve McDonald
Beautiful
I was surprised that the spray paint didn't catch on fire with the lighter.

As soon as I saw the lighter I was thinking oh God! 😱 But clearly everything was fine 😅👍
they look really good, good idea
I have used spray paint but never mixed them. Love it.
Your imagination is unbelievable well done Steve and thanks for. Sharing x❤️👍
Thank you! I’ve been curious about spray paint in resin. After watching your experiment, I’m definitely going to try it!!
Todos preciosos. Muy buena idea
Great work Steve.thank you 👍
love them so much
Hi Steve, They came out really pretty ! There's a counter top company that does videos on KZread & they use spray paints in their resin counter top videos, it's really interesting to see the color patterns spray paints will make.
I do this when it’s too cold to spray a tumbler outside lol. Good cheat method!
I'm definitely going to try the spray paints!! 😍 So many things to try, so little time!!! 😱😱😱😅
Nice!! New ideas as always!! I will have to wait till warm weather to try though.... My craft area is in my home so I do painting outside. Can't stand the smell in the house. They all are so pretty, I just love them!! Ringy-dingy🔔🔔👍👍🦋🦋
Awesome as usual!
I've never used spray paint in resin but I'm definitely going to now! 🤣🤣 I'm excited to try this out
I definitely will be trying that! So cool.
Great idea.
I have some mirror chrome I can't wait to try this on. Thank you!!!!!
Didn't expect to see the cells! They turned put great.
Cool, neat idea
Hi Steve! You have great taste in music! ❤️ They look beautiful! I’ve lots of spray paint . Thank you very much. 👍☺️🇬🇧
I love your experiments! It keeps me from having to do them and destroying my home. My husband thanks you! 🤣🤣
they turned out great :)
Beautiful!
Who knew spray paint would work so well. A game changer. Thank you for sharing this, I’ll definitely give it a go.
Thanks for the tip to use spray paint in Resin 🤍👍
Never used spray paint but I will now!😁👏🏾👏🏾❤💯
I like the purple with the black but cool idea now I must try
I love using spray paint in resin. I learned to do it on resin painting for. You get so many effects, especially if you use other colorants as the other colors
That was pretty cool! I really liked the designs and am definitely going to try using spray paint...it seems like a really easy way to get cool results!
I will be giving this a go, looks good 👍
Can’t wait to try!!
Wow, I love the way they turned out so much! 😍
Brand new to resin. I’ve used acrylic so when it warms up I’ll definitely give spray cans a go!
The 2nd! Definitely liked the 2nd the best!
Thank you love them
I think they are neat looking
beautiful, the one you said is your favourite looks like it has a small heart in it.
Love it!
Pretty cool effects! I’ve seen the guys from Stone Coat do this as well- adding spray paint to the resin like for countertops. It never would’ve occurred to me to try it had I not seen you all do it!
Really cool! TY!
Who would have thought? I love your experiments.
Oh wow that's so cool 😎 I luv it 💖 😍 ❤
Totally have to try this
I’ve used gold. Love it. As usual love your videos. Thanks for taking time to shower us with all the ideas. Happy new year.
Stone coat countertop use it for most their applications. They have great videos on its use
They look good 😊 I have used spray paint do love the results 😘
Oooo I may have a go at this looks cool
I never knew you could mix spraypaint with resin Awesome tip Thanks for sharing this
They are great, would love to see them in dragon mold
We love this channel. Thanks so much!!!!
Genius idea, going to trynit! Thanks so much 🙏🏻☺️
Cool beans tyfs Steve 💯😁❤
Im so happy i found your channel. You have wonderful advice and very helpful tips. Plus I think your really fun to watch. I'm going to try this today.
Oh Steve I love em! I will definitely try spray paint. Thanks!
Great idea thank you! Steve you always Amaze me with your experiments Fantastic!😁👏🏾👏🏾❤💯
Just did a big order all your fault lol can’t wait to get back into playing nd making things Great video x
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!! Thank you so much for helping the answers to my question!!! Thanks again for being so awesome 😎
TYSM for sharing Steve! In one of your videos your talked about not using alcohol inks in your resin anymore because of fading or something? Do you think you could do a video on that? I'd love to see some examples! TYSM!
Can't wait to try this myself!! 😍 thank you for all your experiments 😎❤ luv luv luv em!
Thanks for the challenge I will try this when it’s warms up here
This has done so many times, stone coat and AtD and Many others. The metalics are great but also be careful with flames when using spray paint 😆
Looks like you pulled off a tech that emulates the dragon veins stone. It's one of my favored stones. I will remember to try this.
Steve second one down on your right had a beautiful design before you twirled. They came out great
I would say as a disclaimer .. it depends what spray paint you use.. acrylic even in spray will cause issues if you add to much ( as it's water based).. but the chrome paint is oil based so won't ( or at least you'd have to add a lot more and it's not going to cause a fire like water based stuff can).
If you like the effects in the paint maybe try pebeo fantasy and moon.
New sub here from Spokane Valley Wa 💖 I plan on adding resin to my paint pouring and casting as well,so far I have used UV resin
Good morning 🌄 What do you do with the pieces that can't be sold ? Is there something I can do to keep the waste ? Thank you. I like the spray paint 💡. Lovely.
Rather than mixing the spray paint with decanted resin, I think it would be even more interesting to just spray the paint directly into the clear resin in the mold. Maybe the paint will sink, maybe not. Maybe it will bloom, maybe not. Etc.
I will play with resin when the weather picks up! Peebo do a resin starter kit from hobbycraft, have you used them? Xxx
Stone coat resin uses Rustoleum brand in many of their resin countertop projects.
Fun🙏👏
I so love watching your videos! I'm going to try this! Have you tried using the spray paints in UV resin? Awesome video!!! 😊😊👍🏻👍🏻😊😊
So funny!! I’ve been curious about this as well, but for resin painting. I have clear spray paint and I think there’s a possibility it could add a cool effect if I spray it over the resin painting.
might be cool to hydro dip some clear resin shapes
I am going to try spray paint 🤪
Thanks for this one, I love that you think of all the odd things to try, you're very imaginative. Have you tried using glitter glue under resin? I was thinking of trying it on a pen but afraid it wouldn't hold up. what do you think?
Hmmmm I think I'll try spray paint love the effects not as drastic as alcohol inks your pieces turned out beautiful ❤ many thanks again P.S I finally found the place to buy you some coffee ☕ can't wait to see my name on January's coffee board
What kind of spray paint is that I mean there's different types of spray paint not color or metallic I'm talking about enamel indoor outdoor did you get the kind that's for plastic like spray painting plastic cuz that's what resin of essentially is a plastic
I love this mold, where can it be found?
Quick question, can you spray paint over dried epoxy resin on a tumbler? I want to do the "dawn dish soap method" on a tumbler I've glitters and epoxied (dried) already.
What do you use the hearts for? I love all these little pieces but don't know what to do with them
Gonna give it ago once I'm confident with resin itself
Not sure if u have tried nail polish just thinking that possibly the gel polish might do some awesome things. Luv ya videos! Hi from Pensacola Florida!
