    Seeing the Kickr Bike, I have a reaction similar to Simon's on the Zwiftcast - "Damn that's expensive. I hate how expensive that is, mostly because I kind of really want one and I have a terrible suspicion that I'm going to end up buying one some day."

    Hopefully Wahoo will release TT "shifters" for the KICKR Bike. Once they do, I think simplest way to switch between road and TT positions will be to mount the TT "shifters" to a separate bar/stem (and "steer tube") and then just swap the entire bar/stem/steerer/shifter assembly - one for road and one for TT. All you would need to do it disconnect cables, loosen the front clamp, swap assemblies, tighten clamp, then reconnect cables. Same idea with the saddle, particularly if you ride a different road and TT saddle. Put each saddle on its own seatpost, and then swap the entire assembly.

    Hi Shane, been enjoying your informative and teaching videos as I am a newbie. I very much like the bike and want to get into indoor training but, I am 5ft 2in with a short reach ( and find the Atom difficult to reach/find a comfortable riding position). Can you include some information on your “fit” video for us female and a shortie. Thank you

    Please do the reach/ stack range in an upcoming video. I haven’t seen it anywhere. It looks like the bars might not go low enough to put some aerobar pads on. It’s really cool but I already see a reason to wait, what if zwift actually does make steering a thing? It looks like steering could be built into the kickr bike.

  • @pantster9855
    @pantster98554 жыл бұрын

    How wide are the bars? The seatpost looks round? One of the things I like about non round seatposts is that on my travel bike it's easy to set up each time as I only have to set it for length. With this having the potential to be used by more than one person in the household i think it's almost a shame the post is round, as it will mean that it take a bit longer to make sure the saddle is straight too. Although, I used to have two mount for my original wattbike, so your suggestion of being about to use two seatposts on 2 different saddles is great idea

    Where the numbering is for the stem height adjustment I see has a flat section on the tube, so obviously that bit cant rotate, but does the stem mount onto that tube have a round section so effectively you could use any road stem? I was thinking if so, then loosen the 2 clamp bolts on the stem, get a bearing on the stem cap or just loosen that bit too, so you could steer, I wouldnt pull up but could it steer left and right? then you could use a phone as the interface? Just thinking of a way to add steering. It would wear down in time but greasing it would help.

  • @gplama

    @gplama

    4 жыл бұрын

    I wouldn't go with just loosening the bolts, but there would be a way to engineer something with the current front end to allow steering. Weight isn't a problem with these bikes so it could be quite industrial.

    I heard a little creaking noise when you standing on the pedals. Did you ever get this solved? I’m asking this because I just have a brand new V2 Kickr bike and those rear legs are creaking loud. From the beginning the legs are creaking. Loosen the bolts and put them back on did the trick for one ride. Second ride and creaking was back. Now I removed the bolts and greased them. In third ride, in the beginning, the Legs weren’t creaking anymore after loosening the bolts, greasing them and torqued them at 24nm. Now today after a 2 hour ride on Zwift the creak has returned. And it was again coming from those stabilizer legs. I removed the bolts and i was shocked that all the loctite was already away. 1) Put the bolts back with some grease. Quick spin and the creak was stil there. So I removed the bolts again. 2) When the bolts weren’t installed anymore. I did a quick spin on the bike and the creaking was away. 3) Installed the bolts again and put some special thread grease on them and also put some grease on the arms and at this moment the creaking is away. Now i’m wondering what the problem could be??? I want to point out some possible problems: 1) is there bad thread on the arm part of the bike so when the bolts are installed they creak 2) do i have bad bolts 3) are the stabilizer arm out of tolerance Happy to hear how you solved it!

    I think their target market right now is people looking for a complete "out of the box" solution to starting indoor/online cycling. The only converts they are likely to get from people already equipped are just gearhounds who have to have the latest tech. Wahoo to double the negative gradient sent by Zwift. Kind of understand why Zwift might ant to make downhills more challenging but wahoo need to sen the correct negative gradient to kickr climb/bike.

    The reviews out there to date from owners make it seem pretty sketchy. Looks more like company issues than tech letting them down. It’s had a troubled birth and I’ll give it room (and time) to improve before looking at one. Maybe v2.

    FYI. GCN just did a full review of updates and as I’m in the market for a unit, it seems to blow away the Garmin and Wahoo.

    @@mtbgo7860 GCN are more a 'brand awareness' channel. There's nothing wrong with that... it's a more successful strategy than what I'm doing.... but.... I"m more comfortable getting hands-on myself, or information from other sources.

    It might work... but it’s not an ideal environment for it. It’s designed for indoor use/storage. The electronics won’t like being exposed to the elements (hot/cold/humidity/etc).
