i use a system which has a preview for the pages and i quite like the wahoo's list system because of the ability to zoom in and out. this means you can change on the fly how many data points you are going to use.

You can buy the Garmin stem mounts (which use rubber 0-ring straps) and just use a pair of diagonal cutters (or a sharp utility knife) to trim the tabs on one side of the mount so that the Bolt will fit. There are several KZread videos showing how to do this. Since the stem mounts can be mounted in any of 4 orientations, the 90 degree offset of the Bolt mount vs. Garmin can be easily accomodated.

Excellent, fair review! I bought a Bolt V2 as my first cycling GPS and it is generally really good, but here's my 'moan list': -The lag on turn notifications occurs more frequently than I would like. -Why blue for re-routing? It's the same colour as some topographic mapping features - why not red? -Re-routing doesn't show the whole route and is not always the most logical way to get back on track - too much of a leap of faith required. -Deleting routes from 3rd parties - I've got a bunch of routes on there, created with Ride With GPS that I no longer need. Wahoo's own solution for this (delete in the 3rd party app and re-sync) hasn't worked for me. Most frustrating.

Is the no bike profiles still a thing? I only have one XC bike, but I do use it to ride on road during the week and long MTB rides every weekend, and the fields I use for road riding are not the same I use when I do MTB riding. I've always been curious about Wahoo and was thinking on changing my current Edge 830 for the Bolt V2, but this is surely a deal breaker for me as I don't wanna keep changing up pages every week or even during the week (sometimes in the summer I do MTB night rides, just to do road riding again in two days)

The main thing I don’t like with my bolt is the auto pause feature. They need to take a page out of garmins book where you can set the auto pause to trip out over a certain speed. Like 5 or 10 mph.

I've had the Bolt V2 for quite a while now and really like it, there are a few issues though for me. The stem mount, absolutely I ended up using my Garmin mounts and leave the adapter on the Bolt for this reason. Re-routing I have had some bad experiences with it wanting to send you several miles to get back to where you went off route rather than ride 100m to re-join the route further towards your destination and then having got myself back on the route it kept trying for several miles to send me down un--rideable tracks still insistent I go back to where I left the route until it eventually accepted I was going the right way. I don't use Strava segments but tried it and found I got the Go alert when it was already too late, you need a bit of warning or count down to where it actually starts? At least that was how it appeared to me but I admit I didn't try with it much. Turn by turn navigation is fine for me but it does seem to alert a bit late, not a problem on the sort of routes I do (mainly rural) but I could see it being an issue in built up areas. The phone app is fine but it isn't fully functional on my Moto G4, for instance I can't use the colour for power and HR zones, I had to borrow an iPad for that and I'm not going to upgrade my phone just to programme my Bolt V2

On the screen setup point the changes are pushed live to the device, so I always look at the fields on the device then make adjustments in the phone I'm holding in my other hand. Massive agree on bike profiles, it's especially useful when one bike has power and another doesn't, duplicating pages is fine, but it's just another page to cycle through. I agree on the stem mounts, but am curious what alternatives you'd suggest? O-rings maybe?

  • @JustRideAdelaide
