    Thanks for this. I have a spinal cord injury that makes it very difficult to rock a pedal with my foot, but the automatic option looks like it could work for me. I appreciate you taking the time to put this together.

    Excellent comparative review! Your narrative is thorough and very easy to understand. Thank you! Side notes: turning Sensitivity to Min makes it MORE sensitive to your playing, and turning it to Max makes it LESS sensitive. Gawd help us all!!! I do not understand why pedal makers do this kind of thing; though I’m sure it makes sense to those electrically inclined. Because of this stuff, though, I literally have to pull up screen caps of the user manuals on three or four of my pedals, when I want to try new settings.

    @@EricBlackmonGuitar best comparison video explanation of the difference between the two. Do you possibly have a video explaining the the differences between an envelope filter pedal and a cocked wah? I'm looking to replace my traditional wah because I don't use it on too many riffs I play and don't want to rock my foot back and forth . Not sure which would be a proper replacement. Auto wah, envelope filter or cocked wah?

    Great video man! I have a cry baby and an inexpensive Donner auto-wah. Both are really fun to use depending on the purpose. This is really useful information, Eric, so thanks for uploading it. As a full-time wheelchair user, I don’t have sufficient use of my legs/feet to use a standard wah pedal and I always thought that an autowah would be a bit of a waste of money in comparison to something like the CryBaby. I’m now convinced enough to buy an autowah and trigger it, as I do with my other pedals, with my hands whilst wearing my pedalboard across my knees. Really helpful so thanks again.

    I am in a similar situation, having an incomplete spinal cord injury that has left me mostly paraplegic. Even though many companies don't consider people like you or I when they design pedals (we shouldn't need our feet to play a guitar, right?) This also sold me on an automatic option. We're surely a niche market, but I'd love to see a Kickstarter campaign for SOME sort of alternative so we don't have to have a pedal array on a table/our laps, etc. Maybe I could start a reddit thread on tips and tricks for this very issue?

  • @olgreybear7997

    @olgreybear7997

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@wryng there are new things coming out quite regularly. I used to use a Zoom Fire 7010 which is old but really easy to preprogramme so you just pressed a single button to select the bank where you'd saved the patch you want. That has auto-wah as well as lots of overdrives and distortions. I just got a Positive Grid Spark 40 for Christmas (spoiled git I am) but need to update the firmware to get all of the options. Only problem with that is you need either a desktop or laptop to do the update, neither of which I owned and have had to order to get the most out of the features available on it. I'll let you know what I think once I've given it a run at if you like. Then there are things like the Lag Hyvibe system guitars with on-board loopers and the ToneWood effects module getting the effects through the soundhole on acoustic guitars. The Zoom Fire 7010 is a really good option if you can find one. I'll be selling mine if this new amp is as good as I believe it could be but the Zoom Fire sells for next to nothing so I may keep it as a backup. Hope that you find something that fits your needs. Let me know how you get on. Maybe start a KZread channel on the subject of pedals and porch stomping for wheelchair users. I'm sure it would garner some interest and I'd be interested myself. With me building my own guitars I just don't have the inclination to do a channel myself. Let me know how you get on with sorting something out anyway if you like. Stay safe and happy holidays!!

    @@olgreybear7997 really funny that you mentioned the Positive Grid Spark. I've been eyeballing those really hard for the last few weeks. All those options and the sound quality reviews seem almost too good to be true. I would definitely like to hear your review after you've had a bit to play with it. Definitely going to look into all the other gear hacks you mentioned, as well. Thanks for taking the time, and Merry Christmas/Happy New Year to you!

    Cool comparison, cool playing. My JD Cry Baby died (over work? lol!), I had an early Boss Auto Wah and it never worked as well as yours - I sold it. I stuck with a Morley wah instead. Your Auto Wah seems a lot better than my old one. I tended to use the AW for chords and the JD/Morley for lead. Your AW seems to have more range/sensitivity than mine did (mid 1980s, iirc?). Great vid, thanks!

    Just got a used boss auto wah. It didn’t occur to me that it continuously oscillates. Based on my experience, the difference between wah and auto wah is the control. You control the amount of wah with your feet whilst controlling with your hands for the auto wah. Otherwise the auto wah will continue to oscillate.

    I m not a pro guitarist or even a virtuoso. From what i heard i say 1. the trad wah sounds warmer and at the hands of excellent player will sound paradise 2. the auto wah is brighter but at the smae time sounds a bit harsh compare to trad walh, the trad wah needs skills to use it using hands for guitar and feet that means needs experience tha auto wah lets you foot free and i should say is more lazy. It is good for non experienced players
