Right? And with wagyu because so many people crave it, specifically Japanese wagyu cattle are declining because they can't keep up with demand. I recently watched a video on this from the Best Ever Food Review Show and he actually went to the cattle farmers talked to them, went to the facility where they grade the meat, and then finally had some. Very informative video.

Same sentiment. I’ve tried wagyu twice and love it but it’s too rich (and expensive) to be consumed on any sort of regular basis. It’s also too fine dining for a meal you want to down with beer or some other average drink.

    Жыл бұрын

@@novicelifts5197 That is fair, but in the context of online meat eaters and popularity, it is more or less referring to A5 grading. Anything lower seems to have less hype for marketing as it tends to come across as maybe just more marbled prime to some.

@@PooMonkeyMan yeah true but i find this short a little misleading. Because he said wagyu vs angus. I know most people think of Kobe A5 when they hear wagyu but it only represents 1-5 % of all wagyu steak as it’s the highest grade of wagyu. Wagyu mbs 7 also often known/called australian wagyu is perfect for steak as it has a lot less intramuscular fat ( for info A5 is wagyu mbs 12 and mbs means marbeling score)

So true, high grade wagyu (especially japanese A5 and Kobe) are almost impossible to eat in large amounts. I typically cut into small cubes and have with caviar as a lunch snack. However, Australia waygu on the other hand isn’t as rich; I find I can finish an entire steak worth without feeling bloated in any type of way.

Angus, not as rich but a real deep enjoyable flavour and definitely no issues putting away i nice 300g rib eye. We offer wagyu and Angus at my restaurant, wagyu is popular with the younger age groups that want to show off that they spent $$$$ but the middle age always head towards Angus, from what I noticed being on the grill.

100% accurate description and explanation. Very well explained, thank you 👍. When I tried Japanese A5 Miyazaki Wagyu I was impressed, BUT you can only eat so much before it starts to overwhelm you. There are so many varieties of Japanese Wagyu and then you have your American and Australian Wagyu. At the end of the day I would stay Angus as well, I couldn’t agree with you more. Everyone that loves beef or steak should try Wagyu at least once to see what all the hype is about but it’s just as fatty as eating an entire pork belly all by yourself, it’s too rich and too much. Japanese Wagyu is definitely not something that you can eat every day or very often. Lastly, the prices of Japanese Wagyu are so insane that it makes even more sense to stay with Angus. You can buy six (6) 1.5 inch aged Angus New York Strips for the same price as 1 Japanese A5 Miyazaki Wagyu rib steak. It just doesn’t make sense.

Don’t get me wrong, we loved it and it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, but after each bite I found myself taking a five minute break before the next. Most of the time, I just want a flavorful, high-quality piece of beef that I can unnaturally large American portions of.
