Wago 224 connector block demonstration - great for light fitting installation

Ғылым және технология

In a forgotten corner of the Wago catalogue, you'll find the Wago 224 series lighting connectors. A great solution for connecting flexible cables into lighting circuits. More compact than using Wago 221 series or connector blocks.
Wago 224 connectors feature a solid core connector at one end and a flexible cable connector at the other. Solid conductors are pushed into the terminal block. Flexible cables use a push to open cage clamp-style connector.
In this video, Gary Hayers ‪@GSHElectrical‬ and Joe Robinson demonstrate using the Wago 224 in a typical wall light installation.

Yep, a license doesn't mean that you are qualified, competent or do a decent job, it just means that you payed the taxes. The worst electricians are licensed, the worst plumbers are licensed, the worst drivers are licensed, the worst doctors are licensed, etc..

I really look forward to ur vids. Usually, if I start an electricians vid & it's British(Euro in general), I stop watching bc as a Yank we use AWG, different colored wires, different terminology, etc. The fundamentals r the same but I don't want to have to do conversions. Ur vids r well made & I enjoy the banter bc it's entertaining but measured. I don't want antics or zaniness. Keep up the good work.

It's hard to get a grasp of scale but how are they sized in comparison to the 2-way or 3-ways 221s'? I've used them for this purpose for wall lights and they are perfect. Never had one of these in my hand so hard to tell. I like the 221s' as all 2 or 3 conductors are heading in the same direction so the wago can be tucked in the corner with plenty of room left over.

Not convinced by these yet, love a 221 for sure - 222 sometimes. The stranded side of these feels like a bit of a woolly connection, might just be me or a few iffy ones I've had 🤷‍♂️ Still, keep up the good work you two 👍👍

Smaller round base lights fittings should fit over a BESA box (conduit box).

  • @alexgreenman2289

@@efixx however the conduit boxes are still far too big for more decorative and expensive fittings customers buy these days. The larger bases tends to be the cheaper variety. In a sense, you can not have a back box behind the base and still have enough wall for the fitting to be mounted on.

Awesome Video as always but still better to use a connector block as you can then have all the cables on the same side and neatly dress the cabling in the wall/box behind the wall light and by the look of those connector they are bigger than a 15A connector block? In 20 odd years I've not been lucky enough to have anyone have a box on any type behind a wall light. To be fair though, it is each to there own.

Hi. What is the expected design life of the connectors? Overtime would not the tensioning metal spring clip start to loose its tension. I like to think installation products are designed for a long life span, the wiring in my home is at least 43 years old, (when the colleges re-open and I finish my sparky course etc), I'm intending on rewiring my own home, as I can see material degradation.
