Wado Ryu Karate Fundamentals Part 3 - Nagasu, Inasu & Noru
Спорт
In this 3rd and final video from the course on Wado Ryu Karate's core principles Sensei Roger Vickerman 6th Dan Renshi looks at what is truly unique in Wado Ryu and sets it aside from other styles of Karate.
Nagasu - To flow or move with.
Inasu - To redirect or parry an opponent's force using your body
Noru - To ride or be carried without effort or energy
Also pay attention to the explanation of using the body as a weapon; in Aikido and Jujitsu there is no difference in defence or attack if one is armed or unarmed. This is clearly shown here in Wado Ryu Karate too as the sword is replaced with an arm, but the technique remains the same.

Thank you
Mengapa kalo contoh kumite, penyerang selalu jodan/cudan tsuki?

Hello Ari Subono, thank you for your question. There are a few reasons that this set of techniques are taught with the attacker using mostly Jodan/Chudan Tsuki, but this is not the case for all of them. Some start with the attacker using a kick to start the attack. However, some of the reasons for most of them starting with Jodan/Chudan Tsuki are as follows: 1. Kumite Gata is taught as part of the fundamental techniques (Kihon) to students at an early stage and practised until mastered through the Dan grades (black belts). Keeping the attacks part of the Kihon syllabus means students can start practising early and then work on the deeper principles as they mature. 2. Wado Ryu is based on Karate, JuJitsu and Kenjitsu, and Jodan/Chudan Tsuki could easily be replaced with a weapon strike, such as a sword or knife and still be effective, so the attack is interchangeable with armed and unarmed attacks. 3. Although a "street" punch would look very different from a Jodan Tsuki, most attackers will try to attack the head first. So teaching students to defend from these attacks earlier allows them to develop a sense of how to react to an attack. Although this should be practised in a more dynamic way as the student progresses, with things like Jiyu Kumite (free sparring), it allows us to teach it from an early stage of training. However, it should be encouraged to move away from "fixed" attacks as they will create poor reactions if the student does not develop a more realistic reaction. In the Dan Grading (black belt) assessment, there will be a section on defending from any attack. I hope this answers your question and please let us know if there is anything else I can help with.
