Oss

    At the time of this video (which I actually believe was 1989) Elwyn Hall was a 10-0 undefeated Heavyweight Boxer with *vast* Street fighting experience. His speciality was explosive takedowns followed by strikes. I know because I trained at Marshall Street SKC his home Dojo.

    Даже эта версия карате много интереснее и жесче, чем то, что мы видим в 20-х годах 21 века. Если то было танцы, то как назвать нынешнее карате?

    You'll have to forgive me, but as a Kyokushin fighter and Thai boxer, I can't bear to watch this. Nothing happens. Two men who jump up and down but lack commitment and spirit. This is a safe game Not combat.

    The distancing is from Kendo. Unlike Kyokushinkai that is closed distance with little to no blocks. This is actually full contact.

    I know where you are coming from; I used to box then switched to Karate , but Ive seen what May Thai fighters can do to an opponents leg, and Ive seen their punches and elbows, only the Kyokushin guys are as brutal as you guys are, but lets not forget that to simply win a street fight using Karate is not only possible but if the Karate guy is well trained chances are he's gonna land some real good hits, and drop his opponent. Of course the Thai fighters will do it much faster, but these are trained professionals, not the usual clerk the Karate crowd attracts, all 3 styles can down an opponent, and thats why they are around, but you will have alot less injuries with Karate over either kyokushin or M Thai, and thats why I choose it over the other 2, so I could train in it for years and not need a hospital after practice. Thats not to say any one art is better than the other 2, only that the 2 are much more based on sparring than the Katas we do in Karate. If you train hard at anything, its gonna work when you need it, but you will work your ass right off doing with either MThai or Kyokushin, plus you will gain lots of experience in the ring doing it. But I'll still take Karate, its effective and over time will benefit me, not break me apart.

    Why don’t wear head and body protection ?

  • @amuroGenki

    @amuroGenki

    5 ай бұрын

    Because it's not supposed to be full contact. Thus body protection is useless (and largely change the game, cumbersome, and you won't fear at all being punched). Head gear doesn't protect you from brain damage, actually it encourage you to take head hits, bad idea.
