    Another great video. Thank you. Two oil changes ago I swapped my drain plugs out for Fumoto oil drain valves and used a hole saw on my drill to cut 3" openings in my shielding panels directly below the valves. My last oil change was SO MUCH EASIER. Now I don't have to jack up the car, crawl under, an remove the panels. I just slide my drain pan under the car, reach under and remove the safety clip, flip the lever, let the oil drain into the pan, and then flip the lever back and replace the safety clip. Done. Easily saves 15-20 minutes and a bunch of effort. I would strongly recommend giving them a go. I scratched a line on them and the car so I could visually verify they were staying screwed tight they're holding tight after 15,000 or so miles. I'm due for another oil change this weekend and I'm almost looking forward to it. - EZ Oil Drain Valves is another company that makes them, I'm not sponsored.

    With such an extensive process I would replace the oil drain plugs with servo actuated valves. Then have drain hoses merge and route under the front bumper for servicing without jacks. I've been using fumoto oil valves on all of the vehicles I work on for several years without issues. This is my 02 cents.

Also, why are there so many more steps for this oil change than say an American engine when there really isn't that much of an engine longevity difference?

    Bayhas Kana is correct. You will always have a slow leak if you do not replace both drain plugs with an OE plug at each oil change. They have this yellow gunk on them that is one-time-use. Even at the dealer they are only $7 so it's not a big deal if you really want to keep your car clean underneath.

    Hello. Nice video. recently i purchased a CL55 AMG V8 Kompressor, what an amazing enigine & car. I have an oil vaccum extractor witch i used on my previous W220 S-class. Even tough i watched some videos about changing the oil in those engines i am still a bit afraid to work on mine :) Does all the M113K engines are the same? does my CL55 engine has the same requirements as the E55 engine? odd thing, i know MB recomand aspirating the oil out of the engine and not draining it out, but in your video i saw you just drained it, is there a reason for this? Cheers Yair

  • @AMGmeister

    @AMGmeister

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hello, MB definitely recommends draining the oil from the engine. In the E55 AMG w211 you must drain the oil from the engine as it has two drain plugs. Sucking out the oil from the top would not work on the E55, you would miss some oil. I believe the CL55 has only one drain bolt so you could technically suck out the oil from the top but draining the oil is better. It ensures that you get the old oil out properly.

    Yair Miron Ok, if the CL 55 has two drain bolts, it means it has a chambered oil pan. You must drain the oil. You can drain it yourself. Just get two jackstands to safely hold the car and follow this video.

    Yes, you can vacuum the oil on other Mercedes. However, you cannot do that on the SL55/E55/CLS55. The oil sump is chambered on these cars so the vacuum would miss two litres of old oil in the rear chamber. There are two drain bolts for a reason. Always follow the workshop manual.

    The reason why the E55 AMG is it has 2 Oil Sumps Reason for that it is a high performance engine to avoid bubble in the oil there is a upper and lower engine always sucks from the lower part of the sump all the oil will be 100% bubble free when it enters the lower part of the sump. Thus engine always has the needed clean bubble air free oil.
