Why did we ever go away from this?? Bulletproof V8, supercharged, reliable platform. Just improve on that design and be happy. This car is relevant today.

If only there was a 8HP swap for the E55 AMG. Best modernization upgrade out there.
The car that started horsepower wars, the car that dominated the streets back then. And that car is the W211 E55, E63. So underrated 💔
Reliable, looks good, tons of power, great interior, lots of potential for more power....one of the best sedans ever made, maybe the best. And insanely underrated.

The electronics in this model wasnt the most reliable back in 2003. But compared to today, they were very reliable :D

I drove one of those few times. Torque is insane. One of best engines ever made in my opinion. Hitting the throttle and you see traction control light on constantly until 50mph. With awd and some type of launch control system that would do 60 in mid 3. Considering they made it in 2004 is impressive

My dad past his e55 to me few years ago and I absolutely love it.Goes hard looks awesome sounds fantastic.
I said it before many times before and I'll say it again. A proper AMG. Big V8, tons and tons of torque, subtle looks and great sound. It feels so effortless. The new C63 should take notes.

Man the w211 was simply ahead of it’s time, I sold my e320 avant-garde this year and I’m still sad about it. Such a great car!

I bought my E55 kompressor Estate 3 days after watching your video in 2021 , when you bought and reviewed your silver one ! One of the best old school , proper sleepers there is. Genuine supercar performance at the time - still fast, with muscle car sound ( especially with C63 exhaust) , yet discreet looks and supreme comfort. Hard core , pseudo- track focused 2000 kg sedans that you get now are uber pointless IMO.

This represensts a different era of Mercedes. A golden one
Great looking car with a nice interior, and that throaty, powerful V8 is just amazing! Brutal power is I think a good way to describe this car.
We had two of these growing up. Was a ton of fun to drive!

This was the reason why Merc was no.1 for me in the early noughties...then I expected the E63 to get a supercharger on their 6.2L V8...after that this never happened...but it was indestructable...no lightweight baby nonsense in a tank 💪

I miss my old E55 alot! but I don't miss the check engine light, oil leaks, trans maintenance, decomposable weatherseals, and discontinued parts.

With "honest" 570hp this car would do low 7s from 100-200kph with the 5g gearbox even. This car probably has 520-530hp

Guys, I have a question regarding tires. You are going real fast, are you inspecting tires beforehand. Will you refuse to test car on certain tires, for instance Pirellis due to risk of blowout?

The video is excellent, as is the car, which is a beast, only those transitions (joints) at 2:10-2:15 minutes on that bridge are catastrophic, a person tears off the entire gear and not the armortizer, only to leave the disaster

Time 100-200 dragy ?
How the heck did Mercedes make the E55 THIS bulletproof? Seriously! Think about it. It lasts 300k+ miles(maybe more, maybe A LOT more) with almost 500HP and a massive supercharger slapped together with an Aluminum 5.4L V8 attached to a conventional 5-Speed automatic. Something with this much Horsepower shouldn't be able to keep going like these do. The performance is amazing yes, but it's durability is literally on par with the best engines in the world.
