Thank you for posting. I had similar problem in our W210 (2002 E320). Also there was a burned spot where one of the sockets contacted the mounting plate. Fixed the burned spot with a little sandpaper and solder. Then I learned that the online parts info may be incorrect on the "facelift" models of the W210 series including 2001 and 2002. In those years the E320 has the same rear bulb sockets as the S class. The bulb types you must use are engraved on the metal mounting plate as shown in your video. Info about the socket commonality with the S class courtesy of the parts dept at RBM Atlanta. MBZ continues to impress me with their parts support for these older cars. My E320 continues to be a reliable and comfortable car to own and drive.

Thanks for that video I just bought an 2001 E430 and it has the same problem I already replace light bulbs, light bulb sockets and brake switch and still the same but I noticed that circuit board loose so I will do what you just did in the video .. thank you so much

I think this must be a very common fault. Mine is the same and the metal plate has lifted so no longer makes contact. I also understood your English without a problem. Great video thanks!

Thanks for the great video. I get the lamp defective wheni turn on my car and step on to the brake. i also get the abs/bas/esp light error after driving for about 30 minutes at high speed. I replace a new brake switch and check all bulb, every thing is okay. Is this related to the lamp defective and abs/bas/esp error? Please give me advice in this case! Sorry for my English

I have exact issue either my 2002 e320, abs, bas, visit workshop and left front wheel locks up… after 30 minutes I turn on my car and it works again. I noticed it does it after hard braking..

I had bas/abs light on dash on my 98 w210, checking everything on brake light housing now, I wonder why merc decided to use that style, my high mount works fine but brake lights don’t turn on, not brake switch, strange why that pops a light on dashboard

Agree. This is awful styled system which have a lot of issues. Every case must be solved individually. There is not one rule for them.

Hello I have 2002 S430 an says Airmail visit, display defective ABS,ESP .....Causing my car to only go in 1st gear an won't shift properly. I had noticed low brake fluid an replaced it with D3 (not bowing D4) had it bleed an 2 days after, once I hit the brake, I get dash blinking

First off all, check Brake light Switch. 0015452109 Part number. This switch may cause gearbox limp mode and dat messages on display :)

I had the same problem for years but the problem start due a bad contact generates heat. At the begining you can solve the problem with epoxy, o glue, but the real problem will continue because there is a bad contact betwen the Bulb Holder and the plate where is starting the oxidation process. Years later the same problem will appear, and this time you will find a black oxidation point deeper and almost a hole on the plate of that contact. The heat may even break the fuse of the break pedal switch, that is the number 2 of the fue box beside lights switch close the direction wheel. Even coul be easier to replace the whole lights break and the bulb holder. I uploaded a video in spanish language. Search for "Luces aviso avería en sistemas BAS, ESP, ABS, Bombilla Averiada."

the problem is following, yes you can replace it but used ones also will be defective due to condition and Oem new original plates cost very expensive. Than you for sharing your experience.

Thanks for the video. My W210 has come across problem lamp defective too. It's intermittent no backup light and reverse sensor failure. It usually happen for running for a while, lamp defective on dashboard, I have checked all bulb are fine. I changed the new bulb sockets and soldering wiring for brake light, parking light. The problem is still existed, please advise. Thanks.

@@W210Garage No, it's (backup light & reverse sensors) failure only. This situation usually happens after starting engine and driving for while say 20 mins. It may be resume normal after a while or keep ( ). I have used WD-40 contact cleaner for socket, plug, etc. All sockets has been soldered directly to the tail light plate housing. I also replaced new sockets and Osram bulbs, for both brake and parking light.

M Chan Okay. I think there might be 3 things wrong. First it may be abs wheel speed sensor, second steering wheel angle sensor and at least alternator voltage problem-low voltage for charging battery. Have you checked the codes with diagnostics?

@@W210Garage No, I havn't. Do you think this LED tail light replacement help? I read some MB forum that it may be due to bad connectivity problem for brake light. But I havn't change brake fluid since 2014. www.ebay.com/itm/171926714689 About 2 years, ago, I come across problem (ESP, ABS, BAS) during engine cold starting. These 3 malfunctions disappeared when I turn off and restarted. Initially I believe it is brake light switch and battery problem. Then I went for new battery replacement. Problem turned to 2 malfunctions (ESP, ABS) only. After soldering the brake light socket to the tail light housing plate directly, all malfunctions and problem is solved.

M Chan Does it appear are lights switched or not on problem? If this problem comes only after driving some miles with turned off lights it should be some sensor. If the brake light switch or something was wrong it will always say about malfunction. I can advice: 1. Check the alternator voltage, you can do it with the car AC diagnostic mode; 2.Try to reset steering angle sensor - start the car and then move the steering all the way right, then left 3 times, then restart the car and drive it. Hope, this helps if not, then you need some diagnostics. About led taillights i can not say anything.

my running brake lights come on but no matter what when i press the brakes, only my 3rd brake light comes on. i’m not sure if that’s what it’s supposed to do

Sorry, but there is no one rule which fits any issues. In my case there was faulty plate, before it i replaced also brake light switch. I can not recommend anything via online.

What to do when your lights are turned on at night and your brake lights stay on bright even when you take your foot off the brake it even stays on when parked and i turn on the lights only when i turn the switch on at night

W210 Source You welcome..And my Abs/Bas/Esp light is on and it also reads my Lamp is defective that’s because I need a L.e.d headlight bulb that needs to be replaced also my fog lights need bulbs but all my other bulbs are installed...

@@oskeezthadon9601 Turn off the lights, crank the car and push on the brake pedal while engine is running. If car shows this error message and brake lights will not come on, it sounds that brake switch is failed.

My problem was when u turn on the light .. the engine lose power immediately and I have to step more on the gas pedal

Check the alternator, how much power it delivers to Battery.

What many MB owners don't know is that MB uses light bulbs with resistors in them that work only on MBs. Aftermarket light bulbs do not have resistors in them.

Generic bulb is a normal bulb you can find in supermarkets and such. I think you must buy mercedes original light bulb for the car​@@boranbori
