That is some impressive craftsmanship. Much respect from Texas! I bet those methods are expensive though. Worth it for the final product.

What's the name of the black mixture they use to glue the upper tiles? Anybody knows it in western shops?

It is a product called Sylgard. Craftsmen call it Nanban and use it. It seems that clay mud was used as a substitute in the past.
