W.oW. propellant • 1lb rocket test ❪ 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗲❕️❫

That was just CRAZY…
Anyway, the description from the previous video in case you missed itː
‘‘Whistle of Wintergreen ❲WoW❳ is a whistle mix that functions as a rocket propellant that exhibits excellent specific impulse values.
It accomplishes this by using Oil of Wintergreen ❲methyl salicylate❳ as its plegmatizing agent, which has an analogous structure to sodium salicylate, the main fuel of this whistle composition. Other fuels, such as the benzoates, phthalates, and gallates, for example, can also be used.
Normally, paraffin wax, petroleum jelly, or mineral oil is used to plegmatize whistle mixes, but none of these materials possess an analogous chemical structure based on salicyllic acid. Methyl salicylate obviously does, however, which makes its implementation as a strategic plegmatic agent one that warrants immediate usage.
To create WoW, you will need to abide by the following formulation and procedureː
6Ƽ% KClO₄ ❲extremely fine · without anti-cake❳
20% sodium salicylate ❲Na sali❳
10% methyl salicylate ❲Me sali❳
2% red gum ❲accroide resin antioxidant❳
2% yellow ferric oxide ❲Fe[OH]₃ · Fe hydroxide❳
1% isatoic anhydride ❲as a storage stabilizer❳
Mill your potassium perchlorate with the isatoic anhydride until talcum-like consistency is achieved. Ideally, for best results, you should bake your potassium perchlorate in the oven on an aluminium foil-lined baking sheet for Ƽ0 minutes minimum at a temperature of 9Ƽ °C ❲≈200 °F❳ to remove all moisture, as potassium perchlorate is actually very mildly hygroscopic and has the capability of absorbing small amounts of atmospheric humidity. When ready, pass the resulting oxidizing material through a 100 mesh screen or finer. If you do not have isatoic anhydride, note that compounds such as the butylated aromatics like BHT can replace it as well as other stabilizing agents; though, alternatively, you may choose not to use a long-term storage stabilizer, in which case you would use 66% KClO₄. Once you have your oxidizer processed, set it aside, and mill your whistle fuel with the required quantity of red gum and yellow iron oxide. Finally, add all the processed dry chemicals together to your mixing apparatus. You may choose to screen the mixture dry once or twice to make everything as homogeneous as possible. Nonetheless, when ready, add the required amount of methyl salicylate to an equivalent measurement by-weight of your solvent, then kneed the resulting liquid into your propellant until a smooth yellow dough is formed. Finally, granulate your propellant and allow it to dry on craft or wax paper until the smell of your solvent is mostly gone, and all you smell is the methyl salicylate. This indicates the completion of your propellant manufacturing procedure, as you now have successfully obtained WoW propellant. You are ready to press a rocket with it and become mesmerized at the resulting payoff.’’

  • @ShortFuseMan

Funny enough, copper❲II❳ oxide is a retrograde catalyst with sodium salicylate and sodium benzoate. So, it actually slows down the burn rate slightly compared to corresponding uncatalyzed compositions using these sodium-based fuels, meaning a baseline mixture of the potassium perchlorate and sodium salicylate or benzoate alone, independently, is higher performance when compared directly to a mixture where you do choose to use copper❲II❳ oxide in these sodium-containing contexts. With potassium-based fuels, on the other hand, completely different story there; copper-based catalysts of any kind all perform excellently with stuff like KHP and potassium benzoate.

Every increment was carefully pressed to the same pressure and was all a flat teaspoon in volume. Due to the fact that I knew I would be testing this W.oW. rocket during daylight hours, no titanium sponge was added to the delay increments. The pressure I press 1lb ❲¾ inch ID❳ whistle devices at is 7,700PSI ❲registering on the composition❳.

I am not definitively certain what facilitates the occurrence of occasional oscillation in pitch during the delay increments of whistle rockets from time to time. It is particularly intriguing and certainly significantly captivating in nature, and I am inclined to postulate that there are certain factors sometimes at play that I am not fully familiar with.

@ShortFuseMan I don't really know if it's possible but when in a coreless grain it could be slowing and speeding up the burn rate because of the high oil content. Almost like the smother/burn phases of a strobe

  • @ShortFuseMan

    @ShortFuseMan

    4 ай бұрын

It is not a requirement, Nagashi. You see, all I stated in the description was exactly what I did here in the case that anyone might want to reproduce my work to a T for their own projects. I just can’t guarantee that everybody will achieve the same results if they use K perchlorate with cab-o-sil, especially in high humidity environments. Me, Huppscustom ❲Dan❳ and RunningMan40510 ❲Jeff❳ can attest to this, and many other pyros, too, who build rockets that use whistle mixes can as well. Anti-cake is a hygroscopic substance absorbing nearby moisture while still allowing the main material to be free-flowing in morphology, and that is the perchlorate in this context, which is also mildly hygroscopic already in its own right. So, if you intend to use K perchlorate with that anti-cake present, you should definitely dry it in an oven beforehand for the best possible performance via preliminary removing said moisture. Remember, this is just for making redline rocket motors. If it is not critical for you to produce rockets with stupidly powerful capabilities, then it is not necessary to adhere to these protocols.

@@ShortFuseManin this case why not use sodium perchlorate instead of potassium perchlorate? Potassium perchlorate is roughly 46.2 percent oxygen by weight while sodium perchlorate has an incredible 52.2% oxygen by weight. Despite being hygroscopic it should be advantageous in these high performance fuels and keeping it dry is just a small sacrifice for the power gain. Enlighten me here
