W. Oregon Sara Tucholsky first HR - ultimate sportsmanship
Спорт
Western Oregon Sara Tucholsky hit her first career HR with the help from Central Washington - ultimate sportsmanship. She tore her ACL running back to 1st as she missed it initially. Ump she if didn't run the bases by herself, the HR wouldn't count. If her teammates touched her, it would be void.
The opposing team saw her pain and did the unexpected, they picked her up and helped her touch each base.
Central Washington lost the game, 4-2
Sportsmanship at its best.

This was the best demonstration of sportsmanship that I have ever seen!!!! The players from Central are a class act!!!
The day they showed this on ESPN I was late to practice because I had to watch the rest of this! It made me cry... my teammates asked me if I'd broken up with my girlfriend! This is a terrific example of class and sportsmanship, God bless those people.

but not once did she acknowledge the opposing team but concentrated on what she did by hitting a homerun, and talk about herself, sounds kind of conceited to me

@joeylee9809 "I have a lot of respect for her and put her in high regards, her and her teammates. I can't thank her enough."
Absolutely the best sportsmanship I've ever seen displayed. Ever. No competition. Incredible.
Character is the most impressive trait that anyone can display. It is the most underrated, under-emphasized, and under-taught trait in society today, but when true character is displayed, nobody misses it. Character is unmistakable. These girls are awesome. Thanks for posting this video.
I'm a 56 year old man and I'll tell you, this clip brought tears to my eyes. So great to hear a bit of good news these days. I wish I was a millionaire, because if I was I'd give the two girls that carried her around the bases a scholarship. I hope someone steps forward and does something special for these young ladies. And can you imagine how proud their parents must be.

I am 70 years old and have seen this clip multiple times. In fact I have a copy of it on my computer but everytime I see it, the flood begins.
This remains the most pure moment of sportsmanship ever recorded. It's beautiful and inspiring. May we all strive for such respect for the game and our opponents.
Possibly the greatest act of sportsmanship I have ever seen! Well done Central Washington.
IF YOU ARE A PARENT: Make sure you teach your kids this sort of lesson.
Still one of the greatest moments in sports!

You know, i'm typing from Poland so i may not really get what this game's all about, but the part with the opposite team members helping her in that very special moment... Parents of those two girls can be proud of them. REALLY PROUD! It may only be a game, but- those girls showed something that's SO IMPORTANT not only in sport, but in life as well... They both showed what they hold in their hearts. Amazing story indeed.
You can not say enough for the two girls from Central Washington that carried Sara Tucholsky from Western Oregon around that baseball diamond to complete her homerun after Sara injured her knee. Great young women truly Great.

Go Washington!!! It makes me very proud of them. They are probably 37 years old now.
Definitely a poster example of, "It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game."
I've watched this a hundred times, and I cry every time.
I'm a 26 year old guy, and this just made me tear up.
There will NEVER be a greater act of sportsmanship than this!!!!
Buried deep in my favourites list - happy I found this again in 2020!
Proud of them all. Evertime somebody says that the future is bleak, these are our women of the future, My hat is off to them. Thanks for postin, it brought tears of pride to my eyes.

Earth bound Angels on the ball field.. I'm a 78 yr old with terminal cancer. If I don't make it to Heaven .. at least I got to know a little of what it's like to have lived among TRUE angels. Thank you so much for sharing this precious video and the Angels without wings, yet. Again, thank you!
I cant stop watchimg this because its such a beautiful moment to show soortsmenship. Way to go girls. You will all remember this!!!
Heart touching! Good to see some 'good deeds' done by our young people. Way to go girls!
You hit the nail on the head! This story needs to be on cnn!!
This is awesome!! Reminds of my brother - he was playing basketball in jr high and the other team had a player with cerebral palsy. This kid could barely run, but gave his heart out. They get to their end of the court, and they passed the ball to him. Instinctively, my brother went to block him. He then realized it was the cerebral palsy kid he was blocking. My brother side-stepped out of the way, opening up a shot for the kid. The kid took the shot...and the ball went in! That kid was elated, hobbling back down the court to the other side, throwing his hands up cheering -probably the first time that's ever happened to him. The kid's coach, from the opposing team, stopped the game and walked up to my brother, shook his hand and thanked him. That was like 30 yrs ago, and do this day, I've never seen anyone genuinely happy as that kid was, nor have I ever been proud of or admired anyone like I did my brother on that day. I should give my brother a call. See ya, fellas.
I remember this. One of my nieces played at Georgia and one played at Kentucky. These college softball girls are amazing in every way.
This is as good as it gets. Sara earned this. It wasn't given to her like many other "feel good" stories. Mallory, Liz and the entire Central Washington team should be proud.
Character defined by those two young Ladies....AND....a huge shout out to the people who raised them!

WE ARE PROUD OF YOU Sara Tucholsky and WE LOVE YOU!!!!! you're the best!!!!
So very proud, from a CWSC aluim, oh it used to be Central Washington State College during my days, now CWU and the tradition lives on !!!
To the Great Women of CWU and Ms. Tucholsky: you are my heros. Thank you for restoring the spirit of sportsmanship and compassion into an world of sports that is continually tarnished by greed, machismo and selfishness. You are the very models of sportsmen and we THANK YOU. Blessings on all of you!
We need more women/people like this. A true heartfelt moment that should still be played so younger generations can learn from these great girls
Great inspirational story about sportsmanship. You go girls!
wow!!!! Those girls showed more class ans sportmanship than any pro I've ever watched!
That was the most incredible sportsmanship I have ever seen so Amazing the player from Central is so Awesome and the other Girl that help carry her is so awesome as well I couldn’t stop crying thank you so much for sharing this video 🙌🏾
What an wonderful story. I am so proud of these girls. There is still hope for the future!
Like many others every time I watch this video I cry. This is the type of story which restores ones faith in humanity.
Thank you, God, for young people like this.
I came because I'm just finding a book called "Unshakable Hope" by Max Lucado and because I'm a baseball fan myself. This was truly truly special, God is Good!!
I remember this story now that I saw the replay. I am so touched by the opposing team showing such good sportsmanship that day.
Mr. Busey has come a long way. From movie stardom, through drug addiction and wobbly Christianity, he"s done it all. Seeing him surface as a small town softball coach is a true testament to his humanity and resilience. We love you Gary!

Oh my fucking god this is the funniest thing I've read in a while.
You should be proud of yourself Sara...great spirit of sportsmanship from the two players that assisted Sara...good feelings
I have been moved to tears because of this story. While it was wonderful that Miss Tucholsky got the hit, the real heroes in this story are Miss Holtman and Miss Wallace, for being able to put competition aside and carry out (no pun intended) this amazing act. The coaching staff at Central Washington is to be commended as well, for teaching such sportmanship. I have never seen such an act of absolute selflessness and sportsmanship. All young atheletes should be forced to watch this!!!!
now thats wat you call full on sportsmanship - something that we should all learn in fairness in all sports !
Finally, good news that reaffirms the goodness in humanity. Share this inspiration with others, they will thank you. Keep the decency and love flowing. We can change this world if we continue to think and act this way with everything we do.
This is beautiful!! Made me sob like a baby. This is not only great sportsmanship. It's true love! 🙏🏻💜✝️ Love one another as I have loved you.
Excellent...can't imagine anyone watching this and not being in tears at the end. Quite inspirational youths......

Sometimes help comes from where you least expect it and carries you all the way home
Every now and then we get it right as a people!! Beautiful!! HR's all the way around!! Damn onion choppers!!
That's the best moment in sports I have ever seen. And it wasn't just a great hit or shot or tactic.. it was pure sportsmanship.
If this doesn't make you cry, nothing will.
With that (not so common) attitude the tow ladies will do much more to their families, friends, colleagues, and to the society whether cameras are watching or not. I hope they get in to positions in the society where they could use that selfless mindset for good of many others. May god bless you both.

This is one of the best sports moments ever.
I’ve never seen such sportsmanship. Unbelievable, I tip my hat to those two players
It's people like those girls, and the sportsmanship they have, that makes me proud to be a softball player. My friend tore her ACL in soccer, and the oppisite team carried her off. people like this, GMH
Some darn awesome ladies! All three!

this is one of my favorite stories ever. that team shows what sports are really about. get better soon Sara! ♥♥
Man, that's really really sad. I teared up knowing that if those girls hadn't carried her that way, they would've won the game, but they carried her knowing it was her goal to hit just 1 homerun. Great moment in sports history and definately deserved the ESPY's award for best sportsmanship. Oh and on a side note...that woman coach kinda looks like Gary Bucy :P. Again, great moment and respect goes to the whole team for what those two young ladies did.
Great story , I show this to my daughter
character and integrity matters. It matters a lot. These girls set an example for all of us. Respect!

I am proud to be a human when I see things like this, too bad they are so rare. All the media is so intent on focusing on the negative. This is truly where the human spirit is!
I always cry with honor and pride in such a wonderful and inspiring story.

Awesome! Thank you girls!
GREAT SPORTMANSHIP! World class players right there, to help the opposing player get her homerun...and helping her they lost the game. Something that some players NEVER learn despite years of playing. Makes me proud to be an ex-softball player
Can't watch this without crying...
god bless those two young women
Watching moments like this gives me hope for the future of this country.
The definition of the word "Class".
Sportsmanship at its best!
brings me to tears..awesome
honestly i actually cried it really touched me! ♥
Mallory and Liz are my heroes!!
love this so much
Those two young women knew the cardinal rule. It's a game, not a war. Your opponents are people, too. They showed personal character in a way that few others would or COULD have shown. They will grow to full adulthood and be able to look at themselves proudly in the mirror. There are no words of praise adequate for this situation.

Even in war you get stories like this. German pilots escorting shot-up bombers to neutral ground, American 101-Airborne medics tending to Axis and Allied wounded alike in a small church in France that kept change hands, so on and so forth. When humanity decides to show itself, it's a beautiful thing whether in war on or a ball field. (Not arguing with you Kegginstructure, your comment just got me a'thinking).
Amazing story, thank you. :-)
In a world where decency seems to be fading, the girls showed how it works. And they did it for the most honest of reasons, "She hit it over the fence, she deserves her home run." How much better a reason can there be than that? They set a standard for dignity, fairness, and sports person ship that we all can take a lesson from. All respect to those players.
Love it! Great Sportsmanship!
So inspiring!
Simply put... this is what all sports should be about..The C. Washington players deserve all the respect in the world.. And they're Espy for best moment..
Central Washington lost a game but gained a permanent place as participating in one of the greatest moments in sports history. This Buckeye's hat is off to you ladies and the fine coaching you have received. You are all winners.
It's nice to see people caring for each other and doing "what's right," and not what I want. If we could just get this attitude to be the norm and not the exception...
I love the music, it makes its more emotional lol
Awesome sportsmanship
And to this day, she is still the only player to take longer to get around the bases after a home run than Bartolo Colon.
