The reason people are saying this looks like she's copying Liziqi, is because this channel uses very similar music, camera work, and editing. Not because of the traditional processes taking place. It definitely feels heavily inspired. And there's nothing wrong with that

Liziqi has a more calm and gentle vibe while she has more of a “I’ll just do what I do best and try to make it look good,” kind of vibe. When one person point out a negative comment, someone else is bound to comment back in defence. This create a chain reaction. I can vouch that most of the people who comment defending this channel had not seen the negative comment. It's probably buried under the hundreds of other comments.

Ahhhh so for translation at 4:40 she basically is calling out to her little sister and telling her to come eat tofu. Then the little girl says “it’s delicious” and she replies with “if it is then make sure to eat some more” and that’s just something that holds so much nostalgia for me. It reminds me of when I was a child and ate delicious food that my parents made. It’s adorable.

Though he didn’t succeed with his magical pills, the tofu carries his name down, so you can say it’s another form of longevity.

For those saying she “copied” as if this girl is trying to actually steal content. First, You can’t copy tradition. It’s tradition so therefore it’s something that’s meant to be shared from generation to generation. Second, I’ve seen MANY KZread videos and I follow tons of traditional Asian cooking channels that are almost EXACTLY like this. The only way you can truly copy someone’s KZread style is by literally trying to be them and take their name or actual content from the other youtuber hence the copyright strike rules. It’s just as cringey as saying another artists copied your art style. Stop. You guys don’t have to accuse this person of “copying” purely based on your own biased opinion.

i'm just so happy seeing people appreciate the beauty of chinese culture and tradition, where for so long chinese have been very underrated and just seen as spoilt rotten rich alien tourists or desperate factory workers by so many westerners. China is a big place full of beauty and people there have souls and love. They are haunted by generations of trouble and war and a corrupt and controlling system. don't judge several billion people by a handful you run into in buses and restaurants, or by media and governement propaganda.

deathysmile I think it’s hard for westerners (especially Americans) to see that this is a place where many people have different lives they live. Just like how we have businesses and office jobs in the city, we also have people living in rural areas still making traditional stuff by hand.

Made from the dust of the ground I agree America is a very large plot of land comprising of different people. It’s not just California and New York. Even with food there is the southern soul food, Tex mex, Cajun, just to name few.

I think why it is difficult for us, at least in the USA, is because the only time we interact with someone from China is through tour buses and people visiting our national parks and stuff like that. There millions of lucky people who get to visit other countries but generally no one gets to visit other countries. So without either personally knowing someone from China or visiting ourselves we just see what we see.

It's really cool watching different cooking youtubers make hairy tofu. it's one of my favorite things to watch.

In a way, yes. Its basically just fermentation, but tofu (when fermented) happens to grow hair-like mold. Kinda like how yeast makes bread rise or beer bubble!

I love that these type of videos are becoming more and more popular. It’s so interesting to see how these things are done and how long it can take. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication not only to do what she’s doing, but to film yourself and regularly post WHILE having to do back-breaking work? Astounding work!

If you wanna find those comments, her most recent video is currently being harrased again, also if you see a "tina t" report all comments by them as they are the worst, using scare tactics and agreeing to the most racists bullshit just to get more people to harass mei mei.

Its not a huge spoon, its a scoop made from a hollowed out gourd and is one of the most common utensils in the world.

It’s not illegal to make content like this, I love it, the most the better honestly, it’s just gives me such amazing vibes and the videos are so aesthetically pleasing. Just enjoy the videos they make. No hate for anyone :) I’m just glad these videos are back in my recommended because I forgot about them for a while

If anything this shows how successful ziqi has been at creating a trend to promote cultural heritage and traditional crafts. It takes time to figure out your own style, and it kind of have to start off by copying what you like in other people's creative work. The beauty of KZread type content is that it's not zero sum. Similar contents will help drive traffic and viewership to each other. Informational value is yin value, one person can deliver value to another without losing anything or sometimes gaining more value in return. It's much more sustainable than just the modern transactional yang values.

@Danyelle Keene the copy comes from the content material, camera angles ,music choices,etc. Liziqi is a really influential figure in China. She has pop up restaurants, her own line of merchandise, and does advertising for brands. If you have internet,(which is provided by the government although heavily monitored) chances are you know who she is. In this girl's case, she definitely knows liziqi content. A lot of people have to go into the cities to make a living, so it's probably inspiring to know you can make an income by producing content on rural living. It's not wrong to copy what is successful. Like any form of art, you have to start from copying to understand the tools. She's not plagerizing, claiming ziqi's content as her own. The traditional crafts and production techniques are not proprietary. There's nothing wrong with copying per se. She just needs to develop into her own style to remain relevant in this space.

It's amazing to me that there are so many different ways of preparing similar foods. I've seen other videos on hairy tofu and tofu making, but they're all so different!

When the heat of hot water doesnt affect you. Thats when you know you've reached another level of cooking :3
