Blackie is the only front man that can make you cry and smile, in a matter of minutes. Just by singing a song! No one sells it quite like Blackie!

I fully understand Blackie. I've had 5 back Sugeries and a Neck Surgery. It's absolutely HELL. Hats off to him to keep going on, and his recovery. He is correct on Spinal nerve pain. I agree on doing the debut lp in its entirety. I saw the first tour at Harpo's in Detroit. I was totally blown away how W.A.S.P. was so ahead of everyone else. I loved how the PMRC actually really gave them the best PR. ever. The best part before the shows were protestors / Holy Rollers. I will always be a fan. Great interview also.

He's 100% right about nerve pain, I've got it in the neck region, with the C3-C4 bulging disc pushing on my spinal cord, But the nerve roots that pass thru the neural foramen, foramenal stenosis, you can't move. Movement has the nerve rubbing on an extremely narrowed area, and the pain is just out of sight, and it's on 100 the whole time until sitting still. It sucks

One big disappointment with the last tour was that they didn't play anything recorded after 'The Crimson Idol'. And IMO, W.A.S.P. is the one band of all the 80s Sunset Strip bands that never stopped putting out great albums. Even up to the superb 'Golgotha'. It'd be awesome to hear songs from 'Babylon', 'Dying for the World' or even 'Helldorado'. Maybe with Blackie's back being much better he might be able to do a show long enough to incorporate some of the modern classics.

That you'd prefer Blackie to talk about the likes of a heroin junkie who was in the band long enough for a cup of coffee over hearing him talk about the people who have been current band members for years and years gives me an idea of how it would be really easy for Blackie to resent some of his fanbase. Familiarity breeds contempt.

Having gone to the last tour in the UK, I still can’t believe Blackie thinks the stage show was anything special ! The set was a MAJOR disappointment compared to the buildup he gave it, we still got the shortest set of any major band I’ve seen, and then there was the whole backing tracks debacle ! Much as I love the band, I’ll not believe the hype again but if he exceeds my expectations, then great ! 🤣

Then how he brushes that shit aside in 5 seconds and continues the train ride. Brilliant. Now ask him when Rik Fox is going to guest. Blackie will need an oxygen tank for that one. Again I frikken love Blackie and he is an entertaining interviewee but his schtick is borderline David Lee Roth BS.

from Blackie "My mother was from Houston originally and there was a guy there who had that first name Blackie and apparently he was some sort of local gang member. My mom had worked for the USO during the second world war and she was a professional dancer. She would do these shows and they would go around to service clubs. And this guy walked in one night and got into an argument with one of the sailors," says Lawless. "He took a switchblade and he stuck it in the guy in his stomach and walked around the guy with the blade in him, so he did a circle around his body. And I heard that story, and it left a lasting impression," he explains. "So with the color of the hair and all, it just stuck. It's been with me ever since." as for Lawless - during the '70s there was a guy who played for the Dallas Cowboys who was an all-pro center named Burton Lawless. The back of their jerseys with that name on it, I couldn't resist that

Every time Blackie speaks about live performance, he promises a cool show and creating a special environment, and year after year, we get the same dull performance. The stage show lacks creativity, relying on screen projections that, while improving, still come off as cheap. I hope this time he will hire professionals to help bring his ideas to life. I've given up hoping to hear a new album.
