VW Touran ESP LIGHT ALWAYS ON | Brake Pressure Sensor Fault G201 01435

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this week video we have a VW Touran with ESP light on fault code 01435 Brake Pressure sensor fault, very common issue with this car, i believe they had a recall years ago. Inside the abs pump there is a brake pressure sensor that goes bad after a while and the ESP light remains constantly on. I take the most economic route to fix the issue using a second hand known good pump, very easy process that could've been easier if it wasn't for the brake line that was seized with the fitting.
I hope you guys enjoy this one, happy new year everyone and ill see you all next week 👍👍👍
Hey everybody, Igor here from Cars Exposed thanks for tuning in.
I will be uploading videos here every week Thursday at 18:30 sharing my experiences working around cars on my driveway, exposing issues, auto repair, auto electric, oil changes, services, projects and more...
Cheers 👍

Well done, another helpful topic. I looked up the VW repair kit, 1K0 698 517 B with RRP of 299.50 GBP. You get the hydraulic section with pump. I looked into replacing G201 sensor which later sensor is LPKF 488360 but looks like you damage it when removing looking on forums so haven’t tried. Looks like you have the cheapest solution, anyone doing the same as you make sure you can take it back or swap it for another unit as they fail a lot and you could be fitting a faulty one from the scrap yard. Get it in writing before you spend out so you don’t get stuck with two faulty sensors. Turn steering wheel full left then right and drive 50-100 meters to reset steering Angle sensor whenever disconnecting battery, then reset one touch window function, hold switch down then let go and press down for 3 seconds, put window up, let go of switch and pull up on switch for 3 seconds to restore one touch winding up and down. Do this for each window. Make sure windows not iced up or kiddie blinds stuck to rear ones first though!!

I have a question and if you can respond quickly I will really appreciate, I’ve tried a used pump, it’s not programmed but if you scan it , it shows sensor has electrical fault, is it because I haven’t swapped my own module, or this unit needs programming and then it won’t show electrical fault, I am not sure if I’m being clear or not, obviously you must have tried many, if you buy used pump remove battery etc and plug new scan, obviously it will give few adaption errors but should it show sensor electrical fault, because I know about BMWs if steering ring isn’t programmed it shows abs pump has electrical fault, I don’t if it’s the same thing on Vw or not

Dominik Łolik hi Dokinik there is a possibility that is the same issue but I would check the wiring first, multi plug, check for leaks, because the fault isn’t there at all times it makes me think that the module itself could be faulty and maybe when the engine warms up some soldering joints maybe cause a open circuit 👍

Wouldn't it have been easy to fit the whole 2nd hand unit and just code it to car as you are already using vcds?

The Retired Mechanic good question I may be wrong but I thought it had to be a virginezed module to be able to, but I’m not that great when coming to programming 👍👍👍 cheers

@@CarsExposed yes you can definitely code 2nd hand units its not too hard to do. Go to Ross tech to get the codes guide. Get the numbers needed for the log in off the sticker in boot for the different versions of your car. IE engine type brake size and manual or automatic. Then using same web site you input the various versions again of your car in the 6 code box on the code page. Come out of it. Calibrate steering angle and then save everything. Clear codes and should be it.

Yeah just swap the module with the valve part of the new unit keeping your original module , you may have to clear some code after but that is it.
