If anyone is looking at youtube for mechanical how to videos you should never trust a person who doesn't clean off their threads before trying to remove the nut a person who knows what they are doing will always clean threads this man is a real mechanic!!! Good video man

No. Never trust a mechanic that says this is a good option for a car. Lowering an engine to replace a suspension component is a piss poor and stupidly designed vehicle.

I'll bet it drives as tight as gnat's chuff now! Replaced the front suspension on my wife's then Audi A2 including the wishbones which meant dropping the subframe console. I used a permanent marker on on all the key bolts. VAG have special tools for everything. Grand job Dave.

Hi Dave, very informative video, sir. I had the displeasure of doing this job today. I actually went a different route. Pulled the battery and tray out( just 4 bolts) and pulled out the trans mount (another 6 bolts). Put the vehicle back up and lifted the trans. I guess it’s 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other, but I figured I’d share with you. Cheers, and happy wrenching!

Great vid, was contemplating replacing the front bushings or not. My wife's 2016 has some cracking in the rear. The climate where we live eats away at the rubber bits quicker than normal.

Hi m8 great video as usual. Yesterday I took the front passenger suspension mount off mysl audi a3 1.9 55 reg and what a nightmare it was. In the end what become the reall problem was the drive shaft big bolt or axles nut just wouldn't go into smoothly after securing the lowered ball joint. I also saw bit of grease coming out from the mouth off outer cv joint . The rubber boot on the cv joint looked OK but the question is why was the grease coming out of front. I personally think the outer cv joint is bad or has broken frome inside. In the end I was sick of it and I had to hammer it a bit and then tightened it a with a breaker bag until it went all the way in. Afterwards I drove the car and found the alignment to be out as the car was slightly steering to the left. I took it to a tyre shop and the guy changed the front driver side tyre and told me to drive the car and see it still needed the wheel alignment or not. I drove it locally and they had a 4 or 5 miles run on the motorway and it seems fine . Do you think the outer cv join is still ok or shall i replace it? I was not expecting the grease to be coming out where the main big axle bolt goes in.

Theres a much quicker way posted on a similar video. Lubed up the bushes with WD40, remove the two 16mm bolts and the 18mm bolt from the bush housing. Then use a prybar in the bush to force the bush and its housing rearward. Lube up the new bush with some grease then use a soft mallet to drive the new bush/housing onto the control arm. The guy does it in just over five minutes.

Timely video Dave. Think my Yeti is going the same way tho not as bad as this one. Beyond my comfort zone for home spannering. It looks as though the bushes are available as separate items; any particular reason for not replacing them this way? Is it a case of “do it right, do it once”?
