    Great explanation thank you. Make sure you have larger plates fitted for removal so the bearing can pass through it as you pull it out. (Silver plates on my kit) Then swap over to the smaller plates to refit (black plates on my kit) Bearing would not sit straight when trying to put the new one in - make sure you really clean all the rust off the back of the hub, there was a build up of rust on mine preventing it from sitting flat. Cleaned it all off with a screwdriver and danced in. If it feels to tight take the tool off and reset.

    I have just had the left rear done on my T5 in NZ, the part was 765NZD plus about 150NZD for the tool hire. The nearest VW service agent is 85km from home so a local workshop did it after I had diagnosed it. Like yours there was no wobble but it was noisy enough to hear whilst driving. Probably not bad after 318000km on some of the roughest roads in New Zealand an weighing in at 2700kg at all times. Hi from NZ, Anthony

    I’ve just done this on my T5. Broke a 3/4-1/2 adapter in the attempt. In the end I ended up tightening the nut on the puller at the rear of the hub as the bolt head had tightened up against the washer. Good video ,thanks . In hindsight and in any cuter rear bearing replacement I will insert the bolt the wrong way and tighten the nut until it cracks then turn bolt around so you can get a socket on the head.

    We had to use the angle grinder on the outside of the "house" where the bearing goes in. If not the tool/rings would not fit. Really strange, and such hard work, but it fit eventually.. Can add also that for 4-motion/4WD you will have to remove the whole drive arm (not sure of the English word) to be able to get the bearing out. There are six bolts straight in under the car from the weel. I have found no instructions anywhere for 4WD T5/T6 to change bearings. so except for removing the arm, both from the body and from behind the bearing, it seems to be just as you showed in the video. if anyone needs pictures I have to send :)

    Glad to hear it worked out, strange needed cutting, but it's in!! Yes a 4 Motion rears are almost the same as the fronts with the drive shaft needs to come out, the CV (constant velocity) joint gets in the way Many would like a 4WD, little rarer in UK Glad I've helped and your good 👍

    Hi, yes the version I used has two sized adaptors, larger one for T5 style bearing and a smaller for a Polo based front bearing which is the same style, other VAGs seem to have convention press in bearings Of course check the version your thinking of purchasing meets your needs, looking at the link in my description there's a variety kits

    Changed my wheel bearing with the that type of tool. Brilliant but I’ve found an issue. The magnetic ring doesn’t rotate with the bearing?? No idea why 🙁. Will the bear clip be damaged if it remove the bearing again? Thanks in advance.

  • @CrispysProjects

    @CrispysProjects

    2 жыл бұрын

    OH NO!! Sorry to hear Firstly I think the clip will bend and maybe break (or should do) but it's the tightness of the bearing also keeps it in. I have known the clips been bent back and refitted but that should be case by case - of course VW wouldn't recommend it Secondly, can't think of many reasons why it won't spin, should be attached to the inner unless it's loose or tight against the housing. I'd personally attempt to pull it a fraction to see if it frees off as well trying to investigate while pulling what's up 😕 Good luck, hope it all goes ok👍

    @@CrispysProjects Thanks for the reply, unfortunately it’s damaged and broken a few clips. Sadly the magnet ring is stuck to out part of the bearing. How I didn’t notice this a few weeks ago. I’ve changed sensors & the wiring loom! I knew it was so strange that the ABS light came on after bearing change. Big learning curve and expensive mistake. It would be good to know if anyone else as had this issue. Cheers Crispy.

    Oh no 😢 got to remember they're designed to be tight and have that locking ring in, hopefully just needs that little more pressure to pop Could offer couple tips, double check the bracket/puller set up right to extract, can easily get it fighting against it's self if something isn't sat right, and little heat can help on the bearing housing but caution with flames, I prefer a heat gun and we don't want to melt any rubber seals or heat the braking/ABS system at all Good luck 👍
